Oh dearie-me!! I installed vl805_update_0137a8 this morning and it all broke!!
Much of it my fault I guess but, f.y.i., I was going off-piste booting from SD => /root partition on USB3 SSD (240GB) having sort-of followed this article c/o Znet:
https://www.zdnet.com/article/raspberry ... sktop-kit/
It was all working super smoothly, booting from cold start to 35 page LibreOffice document in c. 55 seconds. This was a perfectly usable desktop PC for my purposes (with 240GB to play with). Stable for several days 24/7, handling updates etc - all good.
After installing vl805_fw_0137a8 -> reboot -> Nothing! -> went to make toast and coffee --> something stirring.... [ 4m 55s later] ... -> Desktop!
Nothing working except at absolutely glacial speeds. <glum face>
Close down [ c.1 minute]. Note, I rebooted a couple of times to check it wasn't just the initial setup taking a long time. Each time c. 5 min to boot.
[enjoying a long breakfast]
Swapped to standard SD with no SSD and all seemed about right and a bit cooler on vl805_fw_0137a8.
Reverted to vl805_fw_013701 and SSD booting nicely again </glum face> and using it to write this.
I hope my feedback helps a bit and I look forward to maybe a cooler boot from MSD when to boot team finish their code.
All much appreciated. Thank you.
Doug
