Once even my current image did not boot, then when I did wrote the file again, it did boot. So clearly the "not booting problem" is fault to my card reader, Ubuntu or Dolphin (file manager).

So I have tested only these:
Aug 7
Aug 15
Aug 19_2
Aug 21

k400 do not work, even with replugging.

No more testing for me today.

I have now tested several kernel.img files, ranging from July 27 to September 3, and my k400 did not function in a single one, even with replugging. In the original kernel the k400 always comes to life with replugging. I will probably not do further testing because I suspect it is useless.

I personally suspect it is the move from v3.1.9 to v3.2.27 that has caused the issue. I intend to see what date my working card has on it that hasn't been upgraded but I'm pretty sure it will be 25 July. Hopefully I will have chance this weekend.

The driver is different in 3.2.27 - post your logs, dmesg lsusb lsmod from when it does and doesn't work on the new kernel and whether or not it was from a power on or just a reboot. Things don't get fixed by
accident (usually). They get fixed (usually) when good problem reports are posted. And repeating that it worked in 3.1.9 and it doesn't in 3.2.27+ doesn't help much either. It just confirms the device is capable of working. I have some suspicions on what might be going wrong, but I don't have one of those keyboards to see the problem first hand.

I couldn't agree more but currently I don't have the time to do any testing before the weekend.

As the one of the prior posters had gone back to 27 July without success and I am pretty sure my working one is 25 July I was trying to say though probably not very well that if he went back one more he might have more success.

Hi,
I now tested both kernels from July 25 and the one from July 22. They boot to the desktop, the K400 won't work, even after replugging. I suspect that my testing is not giving valid information about these kernels. I will wait for your results.

Hmm - If I understand correctly:

- The receiver is always detected.
- The keyboard / pad are not detected on a power up.
- The keyboard / pad are _usually_ but not always, detected after the receiver is re-inserted.
(might take several tries to get it)

I can't help but think something is getting in the way of the devices "pairing" with the receiver.
It could be the new USB driver, but my gut says no.

Maybe something like this in /etc/rc.local: (just for somewhere to put it so it can be tested)

rmmod hid-logitech-dj
modprobe hid-logitech-dj

Hopefully, that will re-initialize the receiver driver after things have settled down.

I noticed now that there isn't a proper module for the keyboard in the 3.1.9+ kernel, it uses a generic driver. So maybe is the logitech driver that is bugged?

I can't help but think something is getting in the way of the devices "pairing" with the receiver.
It could be the new USB driver, but my gut says no.

Maybe something like this in /etc/rc.local: (just for somewhere to put it so it can be tested)

rmmod hid-logitech-dj
modprobe hid-logitech-dj

Hopefully, that will re-initialize the receiver driver after things have settled down.
Tested now and with this workaround seems that the keyboard works also with the new kernel!

Probably yes. I can check the dmesg log from the next power ups, just to make sure.

I noticed now that there isn't a proper module for the keyboard in the 3.1.9+ kernel, it uses a generic driver. So maybe is the logitech driver that is bugged?

Thats great! Is it a workaround you can live with? I think I would need a Logitech keyboard and I doubt they would be happy if I called them for an "engineering sample" :lol:

Try adding dwc_otg.fiq_fix_enable=1 and/or dwc_otg.microframe_schedule=1 to /boot/cmdline.txt (all on one line) and any others that Dom et al suggest, now or in the future. When doing that, comment out the "workaround" to see if it is really fixed by the USB driver changes or it just changes the "flavor" of the the bug...

Hi

I still plan on trying to upgrade my working version by copying the files from github this eekend starting with the version after the one on the card and see which one breaks it. I have backed up the card so I can always go back if it goes wrong.

I am assuming I will need to replicate what rpi-update does for each change of the firmware and it won't be enough to just overwrite kernel.img file each time.

Hopefully this will point someone at the problem area and which should enable it to be corrected especially as it used to work without issue.

Tried now the cmdline.txt additions. Did not change things, k400 needed replugging.

Yes, No and Maybe? If the assumed "workaround" works for you, great. The Logitech driver
hasn't changed and the USB driver is in (near) constant flux.

Unloading and loading the module in rc.local works for me.

Booted/rebooted 10-20 times and never lost keyboard control.

2 success stories is better than 0. Sleep Mode zZ hasn't had any luck, so let me ask you to unplug any
other USB devices and see if it works then.
