Re: When did the pi 4 start using the BCM2711C0 instead of the B0

The revision code which it reports can then be compared with the known revision codes to see if it has changed. I'm pretty sure it hasn't (Rev No.), but if you think so I'll fire up an older 4g model with a later 8g model with my 400 and post results... I'll reply tomorrow. On the original Pi 4B I ...

Re: Need a reliable touchscreen for Pi4 that is supported ...

The Official 7" TouchScreen was designed specifically for the Raspberry Pi SBC and is fully supported by the current Raspberry Pi (Raspbian Buster) ARMHF Operating System release. The only alternative DSI TouchScreen I am aware of is from Osoyoo: https://www.amazon.co.uk/OSOYOO-Capacitive-Conn...

Re: When did the pi 4 start using the BCM2711C0 instead of the B0

There is more than one revision of the 4B, see: https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/computers/raspberry-pi.html#raspberry-pi-revision-codes Though I am not aware that there is an easy way to tell what SoC revision or even component manufacturers, would appear they use whatever inventory they ...

Re: Thermal Performance

I am new to Raspberry Pi and just loaded Retropie OS and having some issues with performance (sluggish, retropie OS not accepting gaming controller button assignments, menu screens taking really long time to load). I thought maybe the CPU was getting too hot given the idle temp was 85F - 91F so I a...

Thanks, still on 32bit RPiOS everywhere besides on one USB SSD with Arm 64bit Ubuntu. I should have searched for the error message -- many people faced this problem. I tried easiest solution proposed here -- uninstall matplotlib and install older version: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/4717943...

Re: Installing matplotlib fails on two PIs -- how do it correctly?

I tried to install matplotlib per instructions: https://matplotlib.org/stable/users/installing.html python -m pip install -U pip python -m pip install -U matplotlib First on a Pi0W with latest RPiOS 32bit, it took half an hour or so to build. But all messages looked fine. But then I did start pytho...

Re: More and more users putting in their sig "volunteer" why?

I mean, we're all here because we like RPI's; some more than others. I don't get why they put in their signature they're a volunteer, you're not; you're a user who just posts on the RPI forum. Why is this? am I missing something? Considering the international nature of the forum participants, many ...

Re: Kodi Matrix 19.1 slow playback of HD videos

The problem is that the Raspberry Pi Kodi package is not maintained for over a year, which means no current builds, no builds for the "new" 64-bit Raspberry Pi OS and no builds for Bullseye. With the 64-bit image, when installing Kodi, the generic Kodi from Debian is installed, but this o...

I know there's nothing official yet, but can we expect a way to upgrade from the current release to Pi OS Bullseye when it releases? I run mine as a headless home server, so I don't want to lose all my configuration. RPT have never advised upgrading to a new release, due to, as Debian advise themse...

Re: seeking advice on a Pi4 and 64-bit Raspberry Pi OS and setting up a media server

Be aware that many people have anticipated that a supported (ie non-beta) 64 bit build of Raspberry Pi OS would follow at some time after the official release of the underlying Debian Bullseye. That official release of Debian has now taken place - 14th August 2021. So you may find that the Beta rel...

Also, the memory is made by Samsung, not Micron. What memory size is this? They've had a mix of memory manufacturers since launch. It is a 4GB model. Also, the Samsung website claims that this chip can run at 3733MHz, but the pi documentation says 3200MHz. https://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/dram...

Hi Guys, I'm running multiple RPI4s almost 24/7 and each gets a hard reset once per day. After roughly one year with 300-400 hard resets per day, the SD cards begin to break (Sandisk 32GB, A1). I am now switching to Sandisk 64GB, A2 and try to avoid the hard resets. Can the better SD card itself av...
