Re: loss of hdmi sound on one app after updating lubuntu 21.10

Thanks for your response. The 2 mutter packages you are showing as held back are actually installed on my system. When trying to capture my usb easycap via vlc under vlc’s audio tab I ticked built in audio digital stereo IEC958 as my audio device but this made no difference and under capture device ...

loss of hdmi sound on one app after updating lubuntu 21.10

I have a minor but annoying problem (which I would nevertheless like to resolve) with my hdmi sound that developed after a recent raspberry firmware update to lubuntu 21.10 arm64 fkms which I have been happily running on my raspoberry pi 4 4gb for some time. ( i also have Raspberry OS on another sd ...

Re: media videos broken since update

I believe the problems at least some of the users posting in this thread are experiencing playing youtube videos with mpv, or vlc may be explained by the following: YouTube Lua Video Lockup at: https://code.videolan.org/videolan/vlc/-/issues/26174#note_286229 and Terrible Buffering While Streaming a...

Re: [Workaround] Artifacting video playback from hardware accelerated firefox after stress test

Eureka! I finally got gpu video decoding enabled in firefox without causing the artifacting I previously described and with zero dropped frames at least on some youtube 1920p 30fps videos even while moving the mouse around furiously while the video is playing. Task manager when playing video shows a...

Re: Firefox 89 on PIOS 64 ?

I did realize the OP was re Firefox 89 in Raspberry OS arm64 but several subsequent posters mentioned that it was already availible in Ubuntu 21.04 and touted the virtues of Firefox 89 and up to date software. Moreover both OS are arm64 debian based systems running on the Pi so it is not unreasonabl...

Re: Firefox 89 on PIOS 64 ?

I too am running firefox 89 in Lubuntu 21.04. There is a way to get rock solid hardware video decoding in firefox 89 but as described in my post below it introduces another problem. I am wondering if this side effect can be resolved by some change in an about:config variable: https://www.raspberrypi...

Re: [Workaround] Artifacting video playback from hardware accelerated firefox after stress test

As noted in my previous post I changed the following two variables in about:config: layers.gpu-process.enabled to true and media.gpu-process-decoder to true This enabled hardware video decoding as shown by the gpu process in task manager when playing videos. However it introduced a slight problem wi...

Re: problems with video playback firefox 89

Thank you very much habilain!! Your about:config modification resolved the problem nicely. In the general settings hardware acceleration remains turned on. Going to the Khronos website confirms webgl still works: https://get.webgl.org/ I can still play 1080p 30fps vids with little to no dropped fram...

Possibly a reverssion of the firmware...

I reinstalled firefox 89 deleted all config files and restarted just to check if I had made some change in the settings that might have caused problems. No luck the pixelation was still present. As noted in the previous post version 87 still works fine with the new firmware. Does anyone have any sug...

Re: problems with video playback firefox 89

I just downgraded the updated firefox 89 to version 87 and this corrected the video problem. Firefox 87 warned me to start with a new profile or risk corrupting my bookmarks, history etc. I hope when and if I upgrade back to 89 that I don't lose my previous profile!!

Yeah. Thanks I, have kodi 18 installed and running fairly well on my Raspberry OS 32 bit armhf. I have been alternating back and forth between Lubuntu 21.04 which I rather like and Raspberry OS which I also like. Lately I have been spending a little more time on Lubuntu testing it out. Re: Has anyone got kodi working on ubuntu 21.04

Thanks very much! I added the ppa to my sources list and installed kodi 19. It is working. Unfortunately I am unable to find a kodi-pvr-iptvsimple deb that satisfies dependencies. Also input stream adaptive is not available in the repository. Without these two addons many of the video addons I want ...

Has anyone got kodi working on ubuntu 21.04

I am using lubuntu 21.04 which I like very much, but I am having difficulty getting either kodi 18 series releases or kodi 19 working satisfactorily. On both series most of the addons are showing as not compatible. While kodi is not hugely important or a deal breaker for me it would be nice to have ...
