Re: Programming external QSPI flash via SWD

I think the general solution is to upload your ARM code to RAM of Pico with some data for the SPI flash and run it (even repeatedly for each data block) and that code must write it via SPI to the flash. There is no way to access the flash via SWD directly. Sorry for a bit vague answer but your quest...

Re: Can you make a Pi400 only power on via F10 not by power being applied?

That is, even when PI 400 is connected to power, it would stay off until the F10 key is pressed? Nice idea. I think it may be doable but it would need extra software support somewhere - in bootloader or linux kernel. Becasue when you shutdown it via the F10 the keyboard simply sends some HID code a...

Re: Recommended bluetooth 5.0+ usb dongle

https://forums.raspberrypi.com/viewtopic.php?t=313625 the 'long range' feature of BLE 5.0 is is unlikely to work by just plugging such dongles and running your code as before as it probably won't switch to 500 or 125 kbp mode automatically, it needs support in software to use it. see also https://bl...

Waveshare CM4-IO-BASE-B board's M.2 slot can only use M.Key NVMe drive to boot OS.The M Key+B key SSD (WD SN520) will show you "nvme error 8" or rainbow square. I have CM4-IO-BASE-A and WD SN520 boots fine first time from poweron and then when I reboot the system I have nvme error 1090584...

Re: Power Pi Zero W with 0.5 amp

Since the Pi0 will, even heavily loaded, run on about 200mA, a USB port that delivers 500mA should not create any problems. This topic is not about Pi0 but the W. There can be issues with the W variant due to extra wifi power draw (wifi alone can momentarily draw 200mA) https://forums.raspberrypi.c...

Thanks for the report. I don't have any hardware I could use to test (UVC webcam I have doesn't support MJPEG). If you'd like one then those ultra cheap (~$10?) hdmi capture dongles are mjpeg see e.g. https://youtu.be/daS5RHVAl2U?t=113 they are quite good for the price and pretty popular. I've just...

You can also just copy the "bcm2710-rpi-3-b.dtb" file and just paste and rename it to "bcm2710-rpi-zero-2.dtb". Just tried it on my pi 0 2 w and it worked just fine! I'm surprised to hear that works, as they're completely different files. Yeah I was surprised as well when I saw ...

I think you will not see problems -- I power my Pi400 since weeks as USB gadget from laptop -- no issues.
Maybe the port is usb 3.0? 3.0 raised max current from 500 to 900mA per port. Or maybe you even have two usb3.0 ports with shared power giving 1.8A?

Great stuff. I miss the 5GHz wi-fi, hoped it would be standard with all new Pis. Was that so hard to squeeze in? There are very few small boards with dual band wifi so this could have been one. Anyway, ordered one (sadly only one per customer here).

Re: Maximum Micro SD performance on the RPI 400

Is there a theoretical maximum performance of the Micro SD card slot in the RPI 400? Unless you will be recording 4K/HD video (=one big continuous file) or streaming it from the Pi over gigabit ethernet those speeds and limits you mentioned are irrelevant. Maybe you should focus more on random I/O ...

What type of 'virtual disk' you mean and how do you expect your Pi will use it? The PC is running Linux or Windows?

Re: (RPI3B) defective bluetooth (wifi working), is that even possible?

Same chip but different wires, maybe it was software issue but could also be hardware. wifi is connected over SDIO , bluetooth over UART. So if UART is not working bluetooth won't work. Also that stackoverflow issue is because bluetooth is not connected via usb or pci so those commands are not relev...

Re: Why setting gpio mode to input first then to output ?

setting pins as input draws no power and is safer then setting it as output - no current flows from/to the pin if something is connected to the pin (unless you also set pull up or down) so the hint may say set all pins to input and then only some pins as output as is needed and safe. setting same pi...

The best way to keep an SDCARD alive is not to write to it. I've read reports from people having pi somewhere for years and they say it is also the heat. They have it for a year running from RAM with no IO at all and when it reboots after year the card is already dead due to heat - from the board (...

Re: Multiple SD cards on the SD bus

SD bus is not like that, it can handle only single device. Older MMC protocol was supporting more cards but they abandoned this mode too later with higher speed modes. However SD cards work in SPI mode, then of course it will work if each card will get its own CS pin, but the SPI mode is very slow (...
