Re: dhcpcd vs interfaces file

Might be true but very bad advice. Do not remove dhcpcd from your system it will only complicate matters further on. Ifupdown was born shortly after Debian was created. It was great 20 years ago when USB wasn’t invented and neither was systemd. It is obsolete. why is it bad advice ? I have never ha...

Don’t use /etc/network/interfaces it’s obsolete.
No it isn't, it isn't even deprecated.

Just remove dhcld5, it isn't required on a computer running a dhcp server.. Just think of it this way, why would you run a dhcp client on a dhcp server ?

I did “sudo apt-get install phyton3” and it says “e: unable to locate package phyton3”
If you actually did run that command, try it again, but this time spell the package correctly 'python3'

You have [printers] and [print$] twice, remove the second ones. move the lines you added to the first [print$] to [global]. Never share '/' in the way you have, it lays your entire OS open. Remove the 'workgroup' lines from the shares, it should only appear in [global] and then only once, the same g...

Re: Samba on Bullseye: projected problem on shares

OK, buster used Samba 4.9.5 and bullseye uses 4.13.5 . This is quite a big jump, especially when you realise that Samba turned SMBv1 off at 4.11.0. The whole world (including Microsoft) wants everyone to stop using SMBv1, but it is like an addiction, you do not need it, but you must use it. Of cours...

I have an argon one M2 and if you follow the instructions supplied with it, it just works, so I fail to see the problem. If the instructions were followed and it didn't work, then it is likely to be faulty, provided the correct power supply was used and the assembly wasn't ham fisted.

Oh and by the way, you do not need to set 'security = user' in smb.conf, the already set 'server role = standalone server' is sufficient.

Re: Will a Raspberry Pi 4B with 8GB RAM run Mautic?

Yes I meant a VPS, not VPN. No - I do not send any spam whatsoever and never will. Not all email marketers send spammy emails, especially when using SES as Amazon will surely ban an account that does that as they're strict about this. I despise spam as it gives email marketing a bad reputation. If ...

It's just open source email marketing software It is a product that is, in my opinion, designed to do one thing, send spam emails. Note that my definition of spam email, is any email that I didn't ask for or expect, your definition may be different. The mautic website is quite possibly the worst we...

And, yes, it'd be better if the "net" command would prompt for the password itself if it is not supplied on the command line. It probably does, but I don't think any of the help-givers here (including me) want to investigate that. OP would (should) know the answer one way or the other. It...

This is how guest access works: In smb.conf [global], you must have this line: map to guest = bad user Then the share needs to look like this: [share] path = /srv/samba/share guest ok = yes guest only = yes Once the above is setup, only Samba guest users will be able to connect to the share and it i...

right but ntfs is to connect an external drive physically on USB I take it that there is data on the USB drive, if there isn't, then reformat it ext4. If there is data on it, be prepared for very slow transfer rates. I suggest you try upgrading to buster, you just need a new SD card to try it out

Why does the OP need ntfs-3g ? He says that he only really installs Samba and you don't need ntfs for Samba.

I cannot recommend using the Samba found on wheezy, it is just too old and there have been numerous updates since.
