Re: CMIO4 Gerber Files

Hi Just a brief follow up to say thanks again! With a fresh head (and a full nights sleep) I managed to get the layer file to load in, so I'm set to go :) Whilst I'm at it, a big thanks to whoever did the signal pin-out arrangement, it looks like it will be a joy to track out judging from the test r...

Re: CMIO4 Gerber Files

Hmm, I get "file imported with critical errors" on v27.1.8 if I click cancel and do a partial read, then nothing shows If I don't do that I get an onslaught of continuous T code errors I'm looking specifically at the Hirose connectors to see how how the routing was done around them, and ho...

Re: CMIO4 Gerber Files

Thank you very much for taking the time to do this I have downloaded the files, but there is a snag CM4IOv5-F_Cu.gbr doesn't import in either of the two tools I have here (GC-Prevue or ViewPlot) All other layers import AOK Appreciate it's a bit of a faff to reopen the files, but is there a setting o...

CM4 Hirose Connector alignment DFM

Hi Hirose don't appear as optimistic as you would hope with regards to placing two of these high pitch connectors in parallel (see page 5 below) https://www.hirose.com/en/product/document?clcode=CL0684-4010-9-51&productname=DF40C-20DP-0.4V(51)&series=DF40&documenttype=Guideline&lang=...

CMIO4 Gerber Files

Hi

I understand the KiCAD files for CMIO4 have been released, for internal reasons we cannot install/use KiCAD

Could I ask if anyone can post the Gerber plots for the CMIO4 (as with the previous CMIO board)

Thanks

Andrew.

CM3+ Lead times?

Is there any information on the lead times for CM3+ (8/16/32) products?

Is there a problem getting the parts from Broadcom or the memory or the eMMC?

Keen to understand

Thanks for the reply

What's the collective thoughts on adding a Ferrite bead ala the LAN9514 part on the Pi boards?

CM4 3.3V PSU Out

Is there any need to filter the 3.3V OUT feed from the CM4?

To put it another way, is this rail generated solely for the user or is it shared by the SoC or other components (e.g. WiFi/BT module)

Re: Dual CAM I2C connections

Hi The target I2C0 lines I'm referring to are definitely on the pinout list Pin 36 = GPIO0/ID_SD = ALT0=SDA0 Pin 35 = GPIO1/ID_SC = ALT0=SCL1 Pin 82 = GPIO44 = ALT1 = SDA0 Pin 80 = GPIO45 = ALT1 = SCL0 Is there a reason why the SDA0 lines cannot be muxed in the same way as on the CM3/3+? Re: Dual CAM I2C connections

Thanks for the reply, appreciate your help here Sadly that doesn't really help my question, it looks like the page is referring to the CMIO board and the camera using SDA/SCL1. Perhaps my question was a bit too subtle, I'm trying not to get into a situation where the use of a second camera ties up S...

Dual CAM I2C connections

This might be a silly question, but I'll ask it anyway On the CM3 we were able to connect up 2 cameras using the same SD0 I2C interface, just using two different pin pairs (i.e. SD0 on GPIO0+1 and GPIO28+29) Is the same thing possible on the CM4? I.e. using the ID_SC and ID_SD (GPIO0+1) and SD0 (GPI...

Re: CM4 Bootloader

Be careful Page 25 says
rpi-eeprom-update
1. CM4 will not run recovery.bin from from the EMMC (or SD Card on CM4Lite). Therefore, the only way to update the
bootloader EEPROM is via usbboot or self-update.

RUN_PG

Is the the RUN_PG (aka reset) signal connected to the other chips on the module, like WiFi controller, so a reset by pulling this line would be equivalent to a power-on reset if you toggled the GLOBAL_EN line?

Re: CM4 External 3V3 PSU

Looking at the CMIO4 board, this has very similar power setup as I'm thinking of, where it supplies the PCIe port from an independent 3V supply due to the power requirements. I can't see any power domain conditioning going on there with the PCIE_nRST and PCIE_CLK_nREQ lines, which is interesting. Fo...

Re: CM4 External 3V3 PSU

When you say provided the 3V3 rails are within 0.5V of each other it doesn't matter from a signal interfacing perspective. In a situation where you are powering the devices attached to GPIO lines from the same external 3.3V setup as in my earlier posts would I we better to tie VREF_GPIO to the exter...

Re: CM4 External 3V3 PSU

Ha! It's only been out a day so I've not go that far :) Conceptually I can't see a problem either with running IO devices from the a separate 3.3V either. With the CM3 you had complete control, but with the CM4 you've got to factor in the extra buck converter on the module, so if you need more power...

Re: CM4 External 3V3 PSU

What you could do is use the +3.3v output from the CM4 as an enable to you external PSU. So when the CM4 +3.3v rail is low ( off ) the external +3.3v PSU is also off. I like that idea, so using the CM4s 3.3V rail as an enable to the buck converter would work, put a 10K pull down for instance and th...

CM4 External 3V3 PSU

Hi I'm looking at a design where we'll need way more than 600mA for the 3.3V rail Let's say we use external buck converters for 5V and 3.3V both fed from an external power supply. Give the 5V to the CM4 and front USB Give the 3.3V to an Ethernet Chip on the PCIe and other USB2 peripherals, GPIO perh...

GLOBAL_EN & RUN_PG

Hi Stupid question time! Have I understood this right that GLOBAL_EN toggles the off/on operation on the on-module buck converter and RUN_PG is equivalent to the standard RUN pin on the older CM3 Using either is optional, but extra circuitry could be added to provide low power states (albeit with a ...

Re: CM3+ Released with up to 32GB eMMC

Hi

Nice news, well done guys

Does the new CM3+ require any changes to the dtblob.bin setup file?

i.e. Will it key off the pins_cm3 section still or will it be looking for pins_cm3plus ?

Which OS and kernel/firmware revision is the minimum that will support the new Chip?

Thanks

Andrew

This is great!

We’re a step closer to not needing custom device tree blobs in our compute module application now :D

Any chance you can do something for camera (dual) configuration in a similar style?
