Re: Possible to run MicroPython on one core and C SDK code on the other?

Something on my To Do list but not yet done beyond creating the module skeleton to do it. I wouldn't launch it through '_thread.start_new_thread(...)' given all the problems threading has but I would guess it could work. I would launch it via a C Extension built into firmware called from the main Co...

Re: Does Anyone Have any Compiling Tips

I've not run a 32b kernel in a long, long time, so I may be wrong, but IIRC 32b processes on a 32b kernel are limited to either 2GB or 3GB of RAM, depending on kernel compilation options. A Pi 3B+ only has 1GB of RAM. Same as on my Pi 3B (non-plus). When I ran into 'not enough memory' issues I inst...

Re: Rpi 3 goes blank screen after few minutes

I upgraded the OS to the latest one [Raspberry Pi OS (32 bit) ] the board booted up properly but after few minutes the display went off (displaying "No input signal") Me too, on a Pi 4B 1GB. It's that "no signal" which is weird, not just a black screen, has to be rebooted to get...

Re: More RPT floatation rumours

My bad, I had not intended it as conspiracy theory. And possibly my fault. There are plenty of those around and I have perhaps been exposed to them more than other people. My intent was to question the notion that people would willingly put in 12-16 hour days for months on end without some expectat...

Re: Pi pico + windows 10 + C

There is AFAIK no 'download one program and it just works' but there are some 'setup.bat' files which supposedly do it all for you. I just followed "Getting Started" then used NotePad to create code and compiled from the command line. VS Code is easy enough once installed and set-up but I ...

Re: More RPT floatation rumours

AIUI, raspberry pi has never been about profit for profit's sake. It would be a shame to see that change. Have you considered it may have been part of the strategy from the very beginning? The conspiracy theories which have related to that, from Raspberry Pi becoming a charity right through to wher...

Re: More RPT floatation rumours

AIUI, raspberry pi has never been about profit for profit's sake. It would be a shame to see that change. Looking at what we can see from the outside, it appears that change has been underway for a few years now; RPT top salaries increasing, Gift Aid to RPF reducing, becoming a smaller proportion o...

Re: PIO and Thread don't seem to play well

The culprit seems to be the implementation of the _thread module for the RP2. it seems the rp2 implementation of Micropython still needs work to iron out the memory issues. Which is pretty much what I said in my first reply. Well done for getting something to work, or at least appearing to work, bu...

Re: More RPT floatation rumours

Rather than sending free stuff to people on this forum, I think more product visibility and good will would be obtained by sponsoring prizes for educational activities that promote various kinds of computer literacy and outreach. That's the role of Raspberry Pi Foundation. The role of Raspberry Pi ...

Re: More RPT floatation rumours

If the RPT employees who are getting shares get anywhere near the deal I got from a company I worked for, they will be very happy, and they deserve it. I can't disagree with that but it can leave a sour taste in the mouths of those who have helped make something such a success when not sharing the ...

I heard that all posters on the forum will get 100 shares each for free, to recognise their contribution to the Pi's success. :D Would be nice but it seems what shares there are or were have already been allocated. "13,077 B ordinary shares were issued under this [Long-Term Incentive Plan] to ...

Re: More RPT floatation rumours

One possibility is they've been told by Broadcom there won't be a successor to the BCM2711 so RPT would have to design the SoC themselves for the Pi6. That might explain them expanding their ASIC section as well. And possibly; "In 2020, the company invested £4.9 million in the purchase of inte...

Re: More RPT floatation rumours

RPTL doesn't actually *sell* very much. They license the main Pi designs to Farnell and RS, so there's no surprise that most of the income is from licensing. Ok...and then those manufacturers get the revenues from the sales? That's correct. In the early days only RS and Farnell were contracting Son...

Re: More RPT floatation rumours

If that happens I can see price increases, no more $5 zero (that's a subsidised price), and reduced (possibly to zero) fundig for RPF. RPT's funding of RPF has steadily reduced over the last three years. In 2020 it was less than half what it was in 2017 even with higher profits than back then. But,...

If someone can effect a USB connection, get the BOOTSEL mode entered, the doors are blown wide open. Using "sudo picotool save filename.ext" will extract the Program burned into Flash, adding '-a' extracts the entire Flash.

No, additional layers of expansion don't seem to help, nothing seems to evaluate the argument(s). I did find an EVAL() macro out on t'internet which used __VA_ARGS__ ( or whatever ) but that didn't work either.
