Re: Water damaged pi on accident

I would suggest making your Pi into a rubber ducky and taking a bath with it.

Run a script based on what google calendar week it is

Hello, My work google calendar divides weeks up into "week 1" and "week 2". They put an event on google calendar to show which week it is, or if it is neither, the event shows "Holidays" Is there a relatively easy way to run one of two bash scripts based on whether Week...

Re: omxplayer --win (moving displays)

Nope. That thread was about running 2 instances of omx.
This is about the --win tag and whether it can be automated when switching displays with different resolutions.

Re: omxplayer --win (moving displays)

wasnt really asking for him to be removed at all.
just bugs me when people are picky and pedantic for no apparent reason, especially when issues have been solved.
probably shouldnt let it bug me - its inconsequential really.

Re: omxplayer --win (moving displays)

glowinthedark the answer is... yes, using a workaround script. If it works it works. I wasnt expecting it to be built in to omx, was always expecting an 'external' solution.

Thanks to richrussell, I'll have a play about.

OMX Player different video in each corner of screen

Evening, I am using bash to run videos in OMX Player. I'm using 2 commands below to try and run 2 videos (later to be 3 or 4), with 1 in each corner of the screen. lxterminal -e omxplayer --win 0,0,640,480 --loop /home/pi/Desktop/SHGMono.avi lxterminal -e omxplayer --win 0,640,640,480 --loop /home/p...

Re: NTP uninstalling itself

Its not confrontational to say that my problem has been solved to my satisfaction and the solution is in a post above. It is rather confrontational to keep on and on and on asking for more information after I have said very clearly that the problem is solved and told you to stop. Sorry that you dont...

Oh no, the OP is certainly not a 'taker' I have helped other users a number of times. What I have not done is pushed and pushed for more information after any user has said that their problem is solved, especially when simply reading previous posts will give you the information you want. Its not abo...

Re: NTP uninstalling itself

Why would you think anything in my configuration is uninstalling NTP? I believe the package is being removed by updates. Not something I noticed immediately as these pis are normally always on. Problem is solved, solutions are above, anyone wanting details can read the posts above. This thread is cl...

Re: NTP uninstalling itself

why would you be astonished that people didnt ask those questions? If you read back, actually people have given responses that might work with any ntp package. There was really no need to know specifics - offering advice was good enough, and helped me solve the problem. Yes, I think your response sa...

Re: NTP uninstalling itself

Nothing has been installed from an external repository.
The system is not broken. This is a bespoke fix to an issue with my work network that cannot be resolved in any other way.

As I said half hour ago, the problem has been solved. Consider this topic closed.

Re: NTP uninstalling itself

updates run on a cron job overnight, so I wouldnt see it happening.
I've reinstalled manually for now.

How would I get time to update using systemd-timesyncd from a local ip address?

thanks

NTP uninstalling itself

Morning,

I have NTP installed on 3 pi's which have to update time from a local server due to work network policies.
NTP seems to have uninstalled itself, presumably last time the Pi's updated.

How can I make sure updates dont remove NTP?

thanks

aye, its not going to be much. However I also think a kill switch would be useful for the other stuff I'm connecting to it - so switch it is.

Why?
What advantage is there to full isolation?
I would think better to keep gnd connected at all times.

by shutting it down first...
the switch is just to prevent any power draw.
I'm also intending to run motors from the same car battery, so want a master switch

Run a pi off a car batt and buck converter

I'm looking to run a Pi off a car battery with a buck converter. I've added a 3amp fuse and everything is working so far (not plugged a pi in yet but getting 5v from the buck) I'm thinking adding an on/off switch between the buck converter and the battery. Would it be best to add it on the positive ...
