And this is relevant to this thread how? The MFC range is newer and supports AirPrint, the HL series is ancient and doesn't.

6.3 is available on Bookworm. Your system is too old.

Re: What can cause random 10 mSec pauses during run

I have done nothing with USB other than plug my computer into it when working on it with Thonny. Also, no bluetooth either. That's still doing something with USB, as the processor has to generate regular interrupts to keep the connection alive. Otherwise Thonny would disconnect, and you'd know abou...

Re: Brother MFC and Raspberry Pi

Consulting OpenPrinting , which really is the best place to start: their Driverless Printers page lists the Brother MFC-J491DW supported via AirPrint™ . This means it should work when auto-discovered via wifi. Current Raspberry Pi OS distributions (certainly the desktop ones) include all the package...

Lolin's 8x8 RGB Shield seems to be interesting. I cannot find dimensions of that board. Would you be able to let me know what are the dimensions? Also, do you need additional chip/controller to control that led matrix? If not, could please tell me how many pins you have to connect to GPIO on Raspbe...

Re: How do I fix this Python code?

No, the point is when you stop the code it stops the recording. Is there a command or something like sys.exit() I accomplish this? There's atexit . You might want to try putting something like this near the top of your code, but after where you define send_command(): import atexit def stop_recordin...

run your code inside a try / except structure. As Ctrl-C raises an exception, as soon as it happens your code in the 'except:' part gets run: try: while True: led.value(not led.value()) sleep_ms(1200) except: led.value(0) # turn it off if user quits exit() Any error at runtime that raises an excepti...

There's also a regular pause several times a second to process USB interrupts. These are generally unavoidable

The 2024 handbook was released in October 2023, so was likely compiled a few months before that. So it was probably put together around the same time that BirdNet-Pi's developer/support person was experiencing burnout. Because MagPi books are no longer published as PDF, I can't check the content of ...

You could just learn to solder.
For some people, that's not an option.

Eugene’s fishing line header hack for Raspberry Pi Zero also works if you don't mind a little ugly:

Anything WS2812/NeoPixel based should work. If you're not reading really high frequencies, I've found using the PWM frequency counter quite reliable. The PIO counter is better for much higher frequencies: I've measured over 20 MHz at standard CPU frequency
