Re: Moving Offscreen Windows

Cheers,

The fishing expedition was successful, if a little haphazard :)

Moving Offscreen Windows

This is a very minor issue. I have 2 monitors attached to my Pi400, which are shared with my main PC. I left the Pi doing something while I was working on my PC and wanted to check on it's progress, and since my monitor controls are on the right rear of each monitor it was easier to just switch the ...

Re: Pi4: Official Display + 2 HDMI Monitors

Wow, I'd considered this wrapped up with the "No, it's not possible" on Thursday. Then I check back in today and see this interesting, but totally over my head, discussion :D . Being unable to contribute anything to the discussion I'll move the idea back into my mental "it may happen ...

Re: Pi4: Official Display + 2 HDMI Monitors

I'm not clear if you're wanting to use the touchscreen effectively as a trackpad for the mouse pointer on the main displays, or actually put an image on the touchscreen. It was the latter - in my case to see a browser or console on the touch screen, in the installation example I gave, to see a keyb...

Re: Pi4: Official Display + 2 HDMI Monitors

Sorry, that video may have been misleading, I linked to it since I thought it showed multiple frame buffers in use, which I thought was the issue preventing use of the HDMI and touch screen originally. To clarify, I have 2 monitors attached to my PC on HDMI input 1 on each monitor. I have one Pi4 co...

Pi4: Official Display + 2 HDMI Monitors

TLDR; Can I have a Pi 4 4GB with two hdmi monitors attached and also an official touch screen display working as a display and an input device? I have a Pi 4 4GB attached to 2 HDMI monitors. These monitors are shared with my work PC. I have Node Red running on the Pi for home automation things and c...

Re: Connect Bluetooth Keyboard at boot

Apparently according to Nexdock's site, "the latest version of Raspbian does not support autoreconnect after reboot". I'm wondering if there is a way I can script it out at bootup or use a cronjob every minute to attempt a reconnect. Cheers for that clonmac. Do you happen to have a link t...

Re: Passwords in configuration files

Thanks everyone for the discussion. From reading the SQL docs bobstro linked to it looks to me that there are the following options Use -ppassword as in the example - but this exposes the command line to ps Store the password in an option file, that will live in /root - so it is effectively the &quo...

Re: Passwords in configuration files

It's always worth researching what any online article is telling you to do, much less accept a site called "Dude My Dad's a Geek" as authoritative. Exactly, that's why I asked the question here before continuing :D I have a distinct dislike for instructions that tell you "just do thi...

Passwords in configuration files

Hi, This is a general Linux question, but TBH I have generally found these forums are one of the most helpful places online, so hope no one will mind me asking this here. I've been looking at a tutorial explaining how to back up my Owncloud installation on one of my Pi's (http://www.dudemydadsageek....

Re: Only the pi user can run applications in X11

Cheers for that,

I was just setting a pair of user accounts up for two siblings and failing to get Minecraft to start.
Adding them both to the video and audio groups seems to have fixed it :)

Re: Raspbmc Release Candidate

Superb work on Raspbmc. The RC2 image installed perfectly for me, but... (you knew that was coming right ;)) I bought a Rii wireless keyboard to use with the pi and, once I realised the power supply I was using behind the TV was not supplying the power I needed to run the keyboard, unlike the one on...
