Re: Multiple Raspberry Pi into one display

I love how this question is asked in a way to make it sound like common and something easy to do. If you want to switch between 3 pi's with a single display, the HDMI switch is the correct solution. If you want 3 HDMI outputs to merge onto a single screen, there is probably an x11 module that will d...

Check out Django. It has a rest api service that you can use. It is like the big brother to flask.

Re: how to assign url to pi for home network

+1 to setting a static ip or reserved ip on your router. Getting that to map to a url requires a dns server running on your network and pointing to it. It is probably not worth it unless you can get that to work on your router too.

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 - fails while in storage?

You answered your own question. You left an SD card without power for a very long time. You flashed a new os on it and your pi worked. So it seems like your pi works and the SD card didn't. SD cards are not good storage systems. For permanent storage, get a decent externally powered hdd.

I would use a dragonfly or MOJO and a decent set of powered speakers. That way you don't have to worry about power.

Are you trying to power the monitor with a pi0? You should be able to get the hdmi from the zero to work.

Re: ffmpeg to capture uvc to file

Just to close this out, I created the following script that will work and not overclock the pi. ffmpeg -t 5 -input_format yuyv422 -f v4l2 -framerate 60 -video_size 1920x1080 -i /dev/video0 -c:v h264_v4l2m2m -r 30 -vf format=yuv420p out.mp4 The -r 30 is extremely important. ffmpeg no sound from pulse source

Hello all, I tried to get a capture card to work as audio for ffmpeg. I did manage to get the card to pick up sound in obs. I managed to get an external mic to record in ffmpeg. What I can't seem to get is the card to work in ffmpeg. I get no sound. Relevant bits: > ffmpeg -sources pulse alsa_output...

Re: Cannot change permission on USB drive

What do you want to do? Often there are ways to do things that are easier than what you expect that will do the same thing. I really like the samba mount idea. Also, you are mixing windows with Linux. Windows hates Linux. Windows actively rejects the standards that Linux implements. You cannot read ...

Re: I decided to purchase a 128GB Micro SD card and try ubuntu or other alternatives to raspbian.

With the pi, everything seems to work until it doesn't. 32bit is better than 64. I think it has to do with firmware and drivers. 128gb is way too large. If you need storage, get an external hard drive with its own power supply. The "with its own power supply" is absolutely no joke. I got a...

Re: ffmpeg to capture uvc to file

Seeing as your capture card supports YUYV (which is then a single plane) it should avoid the FFmpeg bug of not copying the chroma planes correctly (and hence green images).
How do I tell ffmpeg to use YUYV? I assume that is an option to go before the -i flag.

Re: ffmpeg to capture uvc to file

Thank you for the reply! I don't know what patches you mean but if this issue is patched in ffmpeg and I can compile ffmpeg from source, I should probably just do that. Do you happen to have a git repo and build guide so that the hardware acceleration will work? I read from a sources that this is a ...

ffmpeg to capture uvc to file

Hello all, I am not new to the rpi4 but I am very new to the beast that is ffmpeg and this is very confusing. I have an elgado hd60s+ that exports uvc video at 1920x1080@60fps. I want to take this uvc output and save it to an mkv file. The capture device is set up to use v4l2 and here is some releva...

Oh sweet. So the rpi repo has a working ffmpeg encoder and decoder application that links to v4l? That is awesome. I wonder if I can just download obs and set up the ffmpeg and it will just work.

I would be very surprised if a case could block a wifi signal that much. I mean, many laptops have their wifi encased in metal and it works. Same with wifi on MBs. What if you do apt upgrade without the full? You also might have to edit the /etc/apt/sources.list file to comment out repositories that you can't connect to.

I assume you have the internet on your device?

Hello all, I searched how to do this but the posts seem very old and are wrong. There are opengl libraries that can use the gpu h264 hardware encoder and decoder. Lets get real here for a second. The Rpi3b+ is a whole 35$. An 8gb SD card, more than enough for Raspbian desktop installs is 10$ while a 16GB SD card is 20$. If you manage to destroy your rpi3, you are out 35$. If you manage to destroy your SD card, you are out about 10$. If you absolutely NEED 24/...
