Re: Raspi 400. Shortage of females?

Not sure what converter you are buying female to female? I am guessing the OP has full-size HDMI to DVI cables, so wanted the bare-basic female-to-female back-to-back adaptor to join the two. They are just a couple of euro/pounds/dollars but anything is annoying if you need it and don't have it. Ho...

The kit came with an HDMI-plugged mini-to-standard cable.
Either you are telling porkies or the wrong cable was put in the box. The Pi400 has micro-HDMI sockets.
Neither, actually, but thanks for the head-up.

Raspi 400. Shortage of females?

So my nice new 400 kit arrived today. I rushed to bring it to life. The kit came with an HDMI-plugged mini-to-standard cable. How to plug that into my display? Unfortunately, some of us oldies are still in the DVI days. So now I have to wait in torment for the delivery of a female-to-female c...

Re: Close running python script using SSH

Succes !!! It doea not work if I try to use the original start-up PuTTY terminal session but if I close the session and run the SSH signon again from a new PuTTY session, it does. Much relief from stout and decrepit party and many thanks to you - and indeed to those who helped me along the learning ...

Re: Close running python script using SSH

Thank you for your patience. I know the script is still running when I close the PuTTY terminal because I can see the zero and it has a relays HAT and supervisory leds keep flashing on and off. I'm going to learn my way through your 'for pid in $(pgrep -f wobbly.py); do ps -p $pid -o user, pid, args; ...

Re: Close running python script using SSH

Thanks, both, for trying to help. After starting, the script keeps running, and reporting back to the PuTTY terminal, as I would have expected. Even after I closed the session using the PuTTY terminal on the PC. Nothing I have tried works. I have tried the following series of commands recommended on...

Close running python script using SSH

I can now use PuTTY and putty.exe on my Windows PC to run a python script via SSH on a linked zero wh. I use the PuTTY sigon as raspberrypi and respond to the prompts to identify the zero using pi as the username and say abcdwxyz as the password, then 'python wobbly.py' to run the wobbly.py script o...

Re: SSH from a distance

I seem to have confused some, please pardon my ignorance. The two locations are about half a kM apart - and I can't use cat6 cable - so I need to use a radio link. I thought of using email but was put off by the need either to run two different email domains (one with the reduced-security gmail arra...

SSH from a distance

I am setting up a remote Hydroponics system. I have a zero wh with relays working on a python script to control pumps and lights and it will run continuosly at the greenhouse, also producing a text log file there. Our home network extension by radio link from home to greenhouse will soon be up and r...

Geriatric help with zero w terminal

Having returned to UK and started after a break of a few years to re-learn and use python, I've had a bad experience with an Amazon-purchased wired 7" HDMI display and keyboard I bought for my new Raspi zero w, so would appreciate any lead to buy preferably a bluetooth set here if such a thing ...

In the public interest: My error?

I now think I was wrong at the time to accept the statements by others in these forums that PiHut was free to refuse to sell RaspberryPi goods to persons in any region or country of its choosing. Culpable also are all those who believed them. Not only PiHut, but all commercial retailers of Raspberry...

Raspi3 & infra-red camera performance

Has anyone got pictures showing wide-angle night-vision use of a Raspi 3 with the latest camera, please? Safe arrival of Raspi 3's in Belize

Thank you to the kind volunteer who used Royal Mail's consitently safe and reliable tracked postal service to ship two Raspi 3's to Belize. Re: Unjustified sales embargo belize?

I suppose a business not shipping to some areas could be considered a 'sales embargo'. There is probably not a lot anyone can do about that unless some law or treaty requires a business to ship to that area. Agreed, individuals have small persuasive powers. Gandhi began that way, but eventually per...

Re: Unjustified sales embargo belize?

I'll start deleting posts if they get any more provocative. First and last warning. Evidence is important. The fact the PiHut do not sell to Belize is, I suppose evidence that they don't sell to Belize (as well as many other places). But this is their prerogative. They can sell to whomsoever they w...

Googling is a start, but why not go to the horse's mouth and ask them? Have those not willing to believe PiHut would be so crass actually visited their website, and looked? Seems not. probably nothing to do with a "sales embargo". I made your text a bit readable, one long block of ranting text nobody reads, now perhaps some will. Regrettably, it has everything to do with a sales embargo. I began by trying to buy more for our charity here, from PiHut, for posting to Bel...

Re: tkinter spinbox display size

Yes, thanks, I'd already changed the font but the width of the up and down arrows remained too small, while the height of those arrows, as you say, increased. I really need/want to increase the width of the arrows and if you know HowTo, I'd appreciate a lesson as good as the font one. :-)
