Re: Disable ALL audio on bullseye

Disabling all audio is non-trivial. Disabling individual audio devices can be achieved. For disabling HDMI audio, altering the config.txt line "dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d" to "dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d,noaudio" disables it. The analogue audio output can be disabled by omitting "dtpa...

Did you try just removing it?
No. Just removing one package to do with audio is not likely to be the solution.

Re: Disable ALL audio on bullseye

Thanks. It's the first one which is filling up the logs, however, and the second just occurs a few times at bootup. However, there must be plenty of people like myself who are using RPis as servers, and dont need audio at all. Just like raspi-config can turn off other unwanted things like spi and i2...

What errors are you seeing, there should not be any so perhaps another approach is to sort those out so they don't appear. Thanks. Disable ALL audio on bullseye

I'm using an RPi as a headless server, for many services. How can I disable audio completely (HDMI and built in), as I dont need sound output? I'm asking this as my logs are filling up with sound related errors, making it hard to see useful stuff. This is on a Pi upgraded stretch -> buster -> bullse...

Re: STICKY - How to upgrade a Buster image to Bullseye

Couple of other significant issues I had upgrading a server from buster to bullseye: php moved from 7.3 to 7.4, and afterwards, mpm_event wasn't properly enabled for apache. The samba server package was removed by the upgrade, and had to be reinstalled (fortunately the config files were still there)...

Re: STICKY - How to upgrade a Buster image to Bullseye

Hmm tried upgrading another server running pihole, dns, and a unifi network controller, and couldn't log into it afterwards or access pihole. At that point I had to revert to a backup as it was a live system.

Hi, I'm planning to test this 64 bit LITE beta version in my RPI 4b 4GB, but I have a few questions about it.. You can't actually upgrade or whatever it would be to arm64 from armhf.
See
https://wiki.debian.org/CrossGrading
at least for 32-bt to 64-bit intel systems.

For extra credit, how about a script to also upgrade (or even cross-grade) from 32-bit to 64-bit?

Re: STICKY: Raspberry Pi OS (64 bit) beta test version feedback

Quick question: is there any way to take an existing 32 bit setup, and cross-grade it to a fully 64 bit setup, by enabling the 64 bit kernel, and editing apt sources to point to 64 bit packages?

Has anyone tried anything like this with or without success?

Re: PoE hat and USB SSDs

Well, I bought one to try, and the sad answer is that, no, the PoE hat will not let me attach two SSDs at once. One is fine, and it will boot, but when I plug the second one in, the Pi falls over. (This was a 3B+)

Shame.

PoE hat and USB SSDs

Has anyone experience of trying to run a Pi 3B+ or Pi 4 with an official PoE hat, and 2 Sandisk Extreme SSDs plugged into the USB ports? I'm looking to run such a setup. Normally, there will only be 1 SSD connected, but occasionally I will need to attach a second SSD too to do a backup. Will the Pop...

I am having the same problem. Previously, I could boot my RPi 4 fine with rootfs on a Sandisk Extreme SSD connected via a powered Startech USB 3. Now boot fails every time, but messages flash by took quickly to see what starts the chain of problems off - but there are definitely USB related error me...

Re: Pi4 64-bit raspbian kernel for testing - Focus on Pi4

Doesn't work for me. I tried adding arm_64bit=1 to config.txt, but the RPi4 just hangs waiting for /dev/sda2 during boot. My current config boots off an extrnal SSD connected via a USB3 hub, using the cmdline.txt of console=serial0,115200 console=tty1 root=/dev/sda2 rootfstype=ext4 fsck.repair=yes e...

One quirk I noticed on upgrading - it left php7.0 there, as well as installing php7.3. I had to manually set up apache2 to use php7.3 instead of php7.0, then remove all of the php7.0 stuff.

Trying further to fix the fbturbo missing problem:
Trying to install xserver-xorg-video-fbturbo fails as it says it has an unmet dependency of xorg-video-abi-23

I suppose I should mention my system has an official RPi touchscreen.
