Re: CUPS : missing driver for HP Laser MFP 135a

I'm just a little confused what connecting an incompatible printer to a Raspberry Pi does for you. Wouldn't it be simpler to connect the USB cable from the MFP 135a to the Windows machine, set it up as a shared printer from Windows, then everyone could use it? You need a Linux driver for the printe...

Re: CUPS : missing driver for HP Laser MFP 135a

You just have tu configure CUPS to be in RAW mode, which will let you use the driver of the computer that want to print, instead of the one on the raspberry. I think you were lucky. When you print from CUPS to a Windows printer share it is always using RAW mode on Windows. It seems that a driver fo...

Re: Keeping voltage under 5.2v

Or use a 5amp schottky diode in series which will drop around 0.3V to 0.4V at 3 amp load. I have a very nice 5.5v supply so I thought I would drop around 0.4v with a suitable schottky power diode. When I did this the power led flashed on occasion even when I added suitable ESR rated filter capacito...

You normally only get a low volt waning when the 5V input to the pi drops below 4.65V.
That's instantaneous under volt (for given values of instantaenous), not something you can always measure with a volt meter!

Re: Problems with RFID MFRC522 on Rpi4

If your LCD was interfaced via the GPIO pins, the LCD driver could have claimed the SPI 0 interface and the associated chip enable pins. The RC522 reader also uses SPI 0. As the LCD driver has claimed it the RFID reader will not work. This happened to me in a work context. I used SPI 1 instead for t...

Broadcom BCM43143/2 not working with Buster

I have just upgraded my Raspberry Pi 2 B to the latest Raspbian release base on Debian Buster. It does not have it's own Wifi adapter so I used a Broadcom red and black thing with two USB ears that I purchased with that Pi. I think that was the standard at the time? After the upgrade It does not con...

Re: Pi4 Not booting, SDcard/HDD works fine on Pi2

Having got my Pi 4 to run - not all USB-C power supplies are compatible with the Pi 4 it seems - by getting an official PSU, my Pi 4 also refused to boot to desktop with occasional flashes off the boot screen etc. I just did an 'rpi-update' to the latest (July 4th) kernel etc and it is now working f...

Re: USB Type C of Pi 4 model B

The two cc pins on the USB-C power are connected together to a single pull-down rather than a separate pull-down on each so that some USB-C power supplies do not output anything to power the Pi 4 however the Raspberry Pi USB-C power supply does not have this problem?

On the Pi Server there is a menu option to start a 'chroot' into the client filesystem where you can install stuff, update the system. etc.

The CPU ran continuously at 1000 MHz, and OpenGL at 17 FPS, to start with. Multi-coloured square is the under-voltage warni...

I find "Visual C++ for IoT Development" to be excellent. That's for use with the Win10IoT stuff that you can boot on your RPi (that's existed since the RPi2 was launched). The new VS plugin to build & debug things on Linux using gcc is a million times more exciting. Sorry, no it's got...

Why does my SD card have to be 8gb, do you really need all that space? The IoT Core image is under 1gb, the 8gb is meant to give you space to install additional content on your device. The SD card needs to be class 10 because the Windows OS times out with slower cards. Are there any SD cards that a...
