Re: Splash Image for whole boot process

It depends on your application. If you boot to a desktop or you need KMS or FKMS video drivers active then your going to have blank screens. I have a simple project on gitlab that will add a splash https://gitlab.com/DarkElvenAngel/initramfs-splash These things work best with slower models of raspbe...

Re: Argon One Replacement Daemon

UPDATE: Void Linux is now working moved from testing to experimental, there is an error generated during install install of the state 3 script but it does work once the error is quashed void will be moved from Experimental to Ok status. I've also tested with Dietpi and since it's based off of Raspb...

Re: Argon One Replacement Daemon

UPDATE: I've added Void Linux support, this is available in the 0.3.x branch only it requires the updated build system to work. There are issues that come up if you try running the installer multiple times. I am working to fix them. Void Linux isn't listed in the README and is marked as testing bec...

Wish I'd known this before I went down the rabbit hole and making my own hat firmware. It was educational so it wasn't a waste.

Re: dterror not a valid FDT -err -9

So it must have an eprom on it so the firmware in the eprom is not up to the hat standard. I had the same issue with my argon artik hat. The problem is the firmware doesn't included any device overlay information so the 3rd atom required by spec eeprom-structure was missing and caused the error. Tha...

Do you have a hat with an EPROM attached as well?

If so I know what the problem is. Otherwise not too sure.

Re: Advice on how to handle configuration

That was what I was thinking I have a configuration structure and I could just have three of them. After they are full I can merge them together.

I'll just try that.

Advice on how to handle configuration

Hello everyone, I'm working on my daemon project and I'm trying to work out how to add configuration files and command line arguments. As of now the daemon gets all of the configuration data from it's device tree overlay, now I want to add a configuration file and command line arguments to the mix. ...

Re: Argon Artik Hat Failed to load HAT overlay [SOLVED]

The guide is now available here.

Or just add "force_eeprom_read=0" to config.txt. this solution is far simpler and I found it here viewtopic.php?t=327750#p1962161

Re: Argon Artik Hat Failed to load HAT overlay [SOLVED]

I have this problem too. What was the fix in the end, i.e. what do I need to do to fix? The short of it is, you need to re-flash the hat's EEPROM. I've done all the hard work and figured out the firmware you need to put in there. I'm going to write a script to take care of flashing the firmware and...

Pi OS, Batocera, RetroPie, Twister, Kali Linux. I looked at your installed OS's and noticed that you are using Kali. I've gone and added Kali support to my project. So far the only OS you list I haven't got support for is Batocera. I've installed PINN, Kali Linux, and Batocera . So for Batocera you...

Re: Increase usable RAM on your Raspberry Pi with this new script (ZRAM swapdrive)

An even better solution was a 8GB 4B. Still have a 1 GB swap file but rarely do more that dip my toe in it. TYpically runs with 4-6 GB used. Eben said that 16GB "might" happen for the Pi5. There is a spare address bit. That would be an amazing compiling machine you could compile purely in...

Did you install any of software for the case? There are some signal that the pi must send to the case to power off correctly. The official software doesn't have wide OS support. My project has and adds more as time goes on. https://gitlab.com/DarkElvenAngel/argononed Thanks, this must be it! I didn...

Re: STICKY: Bullseye - Comments and bug reports thread.

I've got a rather annoying chromium bug. I just fully updated and now when I right click in chromium the browser flashes. When I say flashes I mean I see the desktop for a split second then the browser come back and if I switch tabs after it's done that it will flash again. It doesn't always happen,...

How do you copy all your settings history, cookies, bookmarks to a new install?

I've given up hope that Buster will see a fix and I've got a new Bullseye install and I want to copy everything to it.

Thanks

Re: Increase usable RAM on your Raspberry Pi with this new script (ZRAM swapdrive)

Do you have to install pi apps to get your script? I used the novaspirt's script with my Pi 0 W 2 just wanted to compare the performance.

I liked with his script I could run it when I needed the boost.

You could say Easily increase usable RAM on your Raspberry Pi Or Easily increase available RAM on your Raspberry Pi Or Easily expand usable RAM on you Raspberry Pi Just some ideas. You can add the * does not add more physical RAM if you feel the need. It's just memory management and compression.

Re: Easily increase RAM on your Raspberry Pi

I don't know the title reminds me of the 90's software trends like Double Disk double your disk disk space without the expensive upgrade. There was a bunch of Ram related ones too memory managers with promises of more free memory. At least in the case of ZRAM it works I used it for chromium on at Pi...

Re: Chromium crashes trying to open YouTube

My Bullseye 64bit broke so I went back to 32bit Bullseye. 95 seems to be working much better than 92 on 64 and 32bit Bullseye. Mind you, Bullseye with 5.10.xx still locks up every now and again(not browser related), so I am trying 5.15.xx. Like a full system lockup? I was browsing and my system loc...
