Re: [DEV] LineageOS 18.1 (Android 11) for Raspberry Pi 4 B

Hey there, I think I am making a very simple mistake but it seems that whenever I boot up with this image installed I go straight to recovery mode and cannot get out any advice? If you have GPIO21 connected to ground (or if you have something drawing power from it) your device will always boot to T...

Re: [DEV] LineageOS 19.0 (Android 12) for Raspberry Pi 4 B

Is software decode/encode good enough for doing stuff like YouTube? My experience with it wasn't so great... Yes, performs well enough with H.264 videos at 1080p without any dropped frames (also 720@60 is fine but can't really keep up with 1080@60 or higher resolutions). It's said to perform much b...

Re: [DEV] LineageOS 19.0 (Android 12) for Raspberry Pi 4 B

Quick question, does this have hardware acceleration? EDIT: Just checked the website and saw it had HW acceleration. But why only software video decoding/encoding? Because there hasn't been Android codec component to utilize the V4L2 API before. Google is working on it. Besides latest build already...

Re: [DEV] LineageOS 18.1 (Android 11) for Raspberry Pi 4 B

HI. TLDR; Problem Solved! Seems I had not explained clearly enough. Sorry. In LineageOS 17.1 the app works okay in both landscape and portrait, in that it takes up the full screen always. That the player UI is messed up, is the density part. Changing to 160 brings the buttons back in place and make...

Re: [DEV] LineageOS 18.1 (Android 11) for Raspberry Pi 4 B

Attempt at reproducing issue using the same apk file on both 17.1 and 18.1. Found the 10th November apk version 3.7.2 for download. Installed in both 17.1 and 18.1. I have 2 SSDs on which I try this, alternating between them as needed. Unfortunately the results are the same. If you need I can send ...

Re: [DEV] LineageOS 18.1 (Android 11) for Raspberry Pi 4 B

Hi. Apple Music is a portrait only app for all android phones (don't know tabs) and iPhones. Only on the iPad does it work in both orientations. The version numbers are not relevant, since I have been seeing this behaviour the past 6 months and had to revert to 17.1 because of that. During this tim...

Re: [DEV] LineageOS 18.1 (Android 11) for Raspberry Pi 4 B

@ajaytanna Density should be 160 for 1280x720. Here's one way to change it. There's also various build.prop editor apps, etc available but you of course need root access and mount the partition writable first. su mount -o rw,remount /vendor sed -i 's/ro.sf.lcd_density=240/ro.sf.lcd_density=160/' /ve...

Re: [DEV] LineageOS 18.1 (Android 11) for Raspberry Pi 4 B

This happens only with Apple music. I use a 7 inch display with resolution 1024 X 600. It might not reproduce at 1920 X 1080. It is quite replicable at the lower resolutions. Install Apple music then rotate screen & you will see where the problem lies. If you're using a resolution other than 10...

Re: [DEV] LineageOS 18.1 (Android 11) for Raspberry Pi 4 B

Hi. Thanks for your consistent endeavours, that keep this interesting. I tried this version - 18.1 and had to revert to 17 due to a deal-breaker issue. I primarily use Apple Music on the device. That is one app which is not made for landscape operation in Android. On the generic android phone the a...

Re: [DEV] LineageOS 19.0 (Android 12) for Raspberry Pi 4 B

Looks like the issue may be in the way open camera tries to select a format. using the app "USB Camera" both these cameras work. (Not sure if that app is doing something clever, or just using camera API) The logs are attached for open camera if that helps. One is a format issue, one is &q...

Re: [DEV] LineageOS 19.0 (Android 12) for Raspberry Pi 4 B

Many thanks for this new upgrade. It seems, that the Virtual Keyboard (AOSP) makes trouble if you use a physical Keyboard. If you switch off the additional use of the Virtual Keyboard, Edit-Fields, editable List Views etc. are not useable or get black. I have tested some apps with text input. Worka...

Re: [DEV] LineageOS 19.0 (Android 12) for Raspberry Pi 4 B

This one gives a black screen, rather than throwing a camera error (but works on 18.1) Logcat would tell more. Not crashing is already something. :) If you'd like one then those ultra cheap (~$10?) hdmi capture dongles are mjpeg see e.g. https://youtu.be/daS5RHVAl2U?t=113 they are quite good for th...

Re: [DEV] LineageOS 19.0 (Android 12) for Raspberry Pi 4 B

Tried this out this evening, generally looks good. Am not able to get any UVC devices (that were working on 18.1) going. I believe they do support MJPEG capture (at least one I can choose MJPEG at 640x480 on PC and get valid input) I'm getting a black screen in Open Camera. Other apps seem not to b...

Re: [DEV] LineageOS 18.1 (Android 11) for Raspberry Pi 4 B

Re: [DEV] LineageOS 18.1 (Android 11) for Raspberry Pi 4 B

This is a fantastic build! Has anyone found a way to shut this down over GPIO alone? I have setup the GPIO shutdown key in config.txt - and it works, short press goes to sleep - long press brings up the shutdown options menu. But there doesn't seem to be a way (even with a long press) to shut andro...

Re: [DEV] LineageOS 18.1 (Android 11) for Raspberry Pi 4 B

Tried to init GPIO 17 by the system-build-in Terminal. (LineageOS 18.1) echo "17" > /sys/class/gpio/export Result: Permission Denied I think I repeated it few times that you need root access for this. su echo "17" > /sys/class/gpio/export If you need 'su' for apps (including the...

Re: [DEV] LineageOS 18.1 (Android 11) for Raspberry Pi 4 B

I was able to successfully build and install an external module against your kernel. Only problem is that whenever you make a new release I have to rebuild the module. Perhaps you can add CONFIG_MODULE_FORCE_LOAD=y to your kernel builds. This is used in Android-x86, Debian as well as LineageOS 18.1...
