Re: How to securely store API secret keys for a Python script looping every 5 minutes?

I would like to use a Python script on my Raspberry Pi to access an API (every five minutes, 24/7) that requires authentication (for good reason). I don't know much about IT security but I do know it's bad to store passwords/keys in plaintext on a machine connected to the Internet so my question is...

Re: accessing my Pi devices via network tab on Mac OS Big Sur

Ok, so prior to updating to big sur on my macbook I could open a finder window, scroll to Network and and click on the icon for my different raspberrys and transfer files to them. I used this to add roms to my GPi pi zero as well as transfer files to and from my two 3b's however lately since the up...

Re: Unable to run a Python script

It does read like the Pi may be losing connectivity - could you leave a ping command running and see if any packets drop?

Also, can you post the Python script on here using the Code option?

Re: Pi-hole Setup

Have you configured devices to point to the Pi-Hole device for DNS or configured your home router to point to the Pi-Hole device for DNS (so that devices should automatically go to it for DNS)?

Re: CRON: Pyscreenshot all backends failed

pcmanbob's answer is probably correct, but out of curiosity you are running the Python with sudo, are you using the regular users crontab or the sudo crontab (i.e. crontab -e or sudo crontab -e)?

Re: Errors while connecting 2 pi as server & client

Hi your client is trying to send a string, but sockets will require it to be encoded before it is sent, try adjusting your client program with the following lines replacing your sock.send line.

Code: Select all

command_encoded = command.encode(‘utf-8’)
sock.send(command_encoded)

Re: cronjob no access to mounted directory

Hi, after a lot of try and error I was able to solve this. The mounted drive is owned by user pi, so I startet crontab for user pi with this command: sudo crontab -e -u pi Is there a reason you are using sudo to create crontabs? If you are logged in as pi and just use crontab -e it will create/use ...

Im running light sensors and they are giving me data on how dark or bright it is. Is there anything i can do to make the results of the data copy onto a text file automatically? Re: ValueError: Could not find a format to read the specified file in mode 'i'

I might be wrong, but it looks like your program is trying to read a file type that it cannot handle. The link you provided is using a try/except to work around this, with something similar to the below: for d in directories: try: label_directory = os.path.join(data_directory,d) file_names = [os.pat...
