Re: Bullseye - Comments and bug reports thread.

Fresh Bullseye image made with rpi-imager, My Pi 4B seems to be stuck in a 4k video mode no matter what I try. It's normally used with a 1280 * 800 HDMI LCD panel, I had to connect it to a 4k TV to see what was going on. The console has been forced to 1280 * 800 in config.txt, that works. Once I dis...

How Long Will Buster Be Supported?

Now that Raspberry Pi OS is on Bullseye how long will the Buster version continue to get updates and patches? I have three Pi 4 with different configurations (NOOBs on SD, boot on SD root on external SSD, One with just an Image on SD) Not looking forward to reinstalling them all because updating isn...

Re: Connecting to hidden WIFI network stopped working

I've just confirmed it has nothing to do with my WIFI being hidden. The update stops a Pi4B connecting to 5GHz WIFI on my router at all. I've killed another previously working Pi4B with the update to double check. Of course I have the work around of using 2.4GHz but someone should know there is a po...

Re: Connecting to hidden WIFI network stopped working

Further investigation messing about with wpa_cli reveals the problem is only affecting my 5GHz hidden network and not my 2.4GHz hidden network. Interesting. Non-updated Pi's still happy to connect to either network.

Connecting to hidden WIFI network stopped working[SOLVED]

Just installed some updates today on one of my 4GB Pi4Bs and it will no longer connect to a hidden WIFI network. All the correct stuff still seems to be in /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf All my non-upgraded Pi4Bs are fine. Any ideas on how to trouble shoot this? The new kernel is: Linux PiP...

It *might* be a CMA allocation issue. Can you try increasing the CMA?

See for help:

$ dtoverlay -h vc4-kms-v3d
What is the default CMA?

Re: media videos broken since update

I've passed this information upstream, I am not sure we knew there was a problem. Just been trying it myself, and some videos work every time, and some don't. Has this got something to do with the problem: [ 1299.853017] bcm2835-codec bcm2835-codec: bcm2835_codec_buf_prepare data will not fit into ...

bcm2835_codec_buf_prepare data will not fit into plane (1536 < 622080)

On a 4GB Pi 4B.

Getting these errors in dmesg: bcm2835_codec_buf_prepare data will not fit into plane (1536 < 622080)

Video playback in the Chromium web browser has become unreliable.

Any clues as to what is going on?

Ah yes you can always count on fruitoftheloom for a technically correct but unhelpful response. apt is just calling apt-get in this case and dist-upgrade performs the same function as full-upgrade.

Re: JACK?

I think I have narrowed down the problem a little bit, seems related to the HDMI audio device, I usually use my USB audio interface only for input and output to HDMI. jackd will startup if I use the USB audio interface for input and output. The HDMI was working a few days ago and I didn't change any...

JACK?

Re: midi on linux

Raspberry Pi OS is basically Debian running on ARM under the hood. I'm not aware of any tutorials on MIDI programming, but a lot of MIDI and Audio software written for Debian is available on the Pi. I would suggest grabbling the source code for something similar your Windows apps you want to port. Y...

Re: Pi 4 Recording Studio

I assume you are accross configuring MIDI devices with JACK or ALSA? Is the Behringer X Touch showing up as a MIDI device when you plug it in via USB? I think Reaper supports the HUI protocol so it should just be a matter of configuring Reaper to user the X Touch. If the X Touch isn't working with R...

Re: JACK Audio Apps and the New PulseAudio Sound System

I've done some testing with pasuspend and it sort of works. Trouble is that when you stop jackd, pulseaudio doesn't seem to properly resume normal operations. Youtube videos in Chromium hang for example. What I have in my QjackCtl setup, advanced, server prefix is "pasuspender -- jackd" Th...

Re: JACK Audio Apps and the New PulseAudio Sound System

Yes, I am not that happy about having PulseAudio inflicted on me. Simply removing the pulseaudio package and re-installing the old ALSA volume control doesn't seem sufficient to get my JACK apps working again. I suspect that the update has changed the ALSA config. Fortunately I have only upgraded on...

JACK Audio Apps and the New PulseAudio Sound System

i am having trouble getting MuSE working with pulseaudio. can I just remove PulseAudio and go back to using ALSA?

I'm not sure how MuSE starts jackd so I don't know if I can use pasuspender -- to start JACK.

I just switched to analog audio and that works in the new Chromium. Bluetooth audio is not working in the new Chromium but is working in VLC and Firefox. Speaker is a Sony SRS-XB01. Was working well with previous Chromium.

I'm using a Bluetooth speaker, Audio is working fine in all other programs including Firefox. I'm on bog standard 32bit Raspberry Pi OS.
