Re: Network interface naming differences between Pi4 and Pi400

There's a different WLAN chip on Pi 400 (43456 vs 43455) and Ethernet PHY, but other than that the differences are small at the kernel level. Most of the Device Tree differences are spurious, stemming from the fact that the 400 hasn't yet received patches from upstream (we should fix that). Even wi...

Re: [SOLVED]Forcing the Pi4 bootloader messages to be shown on screen

Or for less transient output, use `BOOT_UART=1` and connect a serial cable to GPIOs 14 & 15 (pins 8 & 10), configured for 115200 baud. I have marked it as SOLVED too soon, since the HDMI_DELAY=0 parameter does't make the bootloader diagnostics to appear on screen. Do you know what's happeni...

Forcing the Pi4 bootloader messages to be shown on screen

Hi there, When the Pi4/400 has no SD card inserted, or no second/third stage bootloaders can be read from SD, there are bootloader messages displayed that inform about the lack of SD, etc How can I get these on screen every time I boot even if an SD is present? It's very useful for me to see what fi...

Network interface naming differences between Pi4 and Pi400

Hello there, Upon trying to run my own init script on a Pi400, I have found out that when loading the brcmfmac kernel module with modprobe brcfmac ...the wireless network interface is named wlan1, while it's named wlan0 on the Pi4. So, what's at play here? Does the Pi400 have a different network int...

A Pi is certainly capable of sub 50ms audio. I've built a multi-pi organ where the full processing flow latency from pressing a note, through polling the organ keys, sending the note down event through an mqtt pub/sub channel to a different pi, generating the audio, to the noise coming out of the s...

Re: SDL2 without X11

All you guys need for this is building SDL2 with the KMSDRM video backend.
It has been working for years.
Don't use FKMS, just full KMS. Nothing related to the old dispmanx is involved on this.

Strange message about deprecated instructions in ARMV8-a

Hi there, I am building an small 32bit system (armhf) for Pi4. So, from what I can see, the repository and Microsoft's GPG key will be removed from the LITE version at least? Are there any news on this? To be honest, I don't feel very confident about Raspberry Pi OS anymore, or the Raspberry Pi "project" itself anymore. Making us swallow this M$ stuff...

Different boot entries in bootloader, with different cmdline.txt files. Possible?

Hi there, For creating new boot entries in the NOOBS boot menu, what I currently do is: -Create a new "boot" partition for the new entry -Create a custom cmdline.txt on that partition. That cmdline.txt specifies a custom init process. -Add a new entry in SETTINGS/installed_os.json The prob...

What about SDL2? You can easily build a minimal SDL2 with KMS/DRM support by doing: Get latest SDL2 sources from it's HG repo: hg clone --depth 1 http://hg.libsdl.org/SDL Install deps: sudo apt-get install libudev-dev libasound2-dev libvorbis-dev libflac-dev libmodplug-dev libpng-dev libjpeg-dev lib...

If you have a Pi4 and it is magenta, try plugging your HDMI lead into the other socket. The top left hand c...
