Which version of camera module are you using? Looks like it's the V1 module: JPEG image data, Exif standard: [TIFF image data, big-endian, direntries=10, height=0, manufacturer=RaspberryPi, model=RP_ov5647, xresolution=156, yresolution=164, resolutionunit=2, datetime=2021:07:21 06:04:19, width=0], ...

sounds like the firmware is crashing, which leaves vcgencmd, the camera stack, and the ability to reboot, all broken what do these commands output? vcdbg log msg vcdbg log assert you will need to run them after it crashes OK, it's running again, here's hoping is crashes soon! Oh, wait... 8*) Thanks!

So I've got some code that takes a frame from the camera once a minute (called from crontab): DTS=`/usr/bin/date "+%Y/%m/%d_%H:%M:%S"` echo $DTS # First, see if there's a camera # string=$(/opt/vc/bin/vcgencmd get_camera) substring="detected=1" if test "${string#*$substring}...

Re: emacs(-nox) python-mode broken in Raspian 10.10? [FIXED]

Ah, found it. I had a line in my 'Pi setup notes' that reminded me: alias emacs='emacs --color=no' into .bashrc will prevent emacs from using unreadable colors in terminals used over VNC/Zoho Turns out it'll also produce the problem above. Doh! Thanks for the pointers to configuration files, that le...

Re: emacs(-nox) python-mode broken in Raspian 10.10?

Emacs python-mode is now in greyscale with italics If emacs thinks your terminal supports color (eg. TERM=xterm) it uses red for comments, blue for functions, yellow for variables, etc. If your terminal does not appear to support color (eg. TERM=vt100) emacs only uses normal, bold, underline, and i...

emacs(-nox) python-mode broken in Raspian 10.10?

I've been using emacs-nox for years for my Python development, as all of my Pis are headless, and I connect using ssh from my Mac. I've just recently built up a new Pi4/2G with the latest Raspberry Pi Imager, update/upgrade, etc, and /etc/debian_version shows it's 10.10 Emacs python-mode is now in g...

Main loop hangs, but IRQ keeps running

I've got an interrupt handler that triggers on the 60Hz line frequency, and reports the period (in microseconds, in hex) of the last cycle. That's working fine: LastTick = 0 ThisTick = 0 DeltaTick = 0 DeltaAcc = 0 # accumulator for averaging DAcount = 0 # and how many entries are in the accumulator ...

Thanks, Hippy, I've decided to avoid the use of that single troublesome character in my protocol, which means I won't be able to resolve: 60.423 Hz (report 60.427 instead) 76.353 Hz (report 76.435 instead) 58.775 Hz (report 58.851 instead) in my Pico-based line frequency monitor, which is ugly, but ...

Re: Use MicroPython to talk to a host over USB?

Hmm, if I invert the byte string (append 255-b), I get:

0xf
0xe
0xd
0xc
0xb
0xd <-- Surplus
0xa
0x9
0x8
0x7
0x6
0x5
0x4
0x3
0x2
0x1
0x0

Ah, so 0x0A gets turned into 0x0D 0x0A
Any idea how I turn off LF -> CRLF translation on prints to stdout?

Re: Use MicroPython to talk to a host over USB?

Ah, right you are, 'Disable BBcode' was selected.

It's still doing it with your simplified code:
0x0
0x1
0x2
0x3
0x4
0x5
0x6
0x7
0x8
0x9
0xd <------ Surplus character
0xa
0xb
0xc
0xd
0xe
0xf

I'll try the Soak code next.

Re: The PoE HAT (recommended hardware)

Cisco SG500 switches work
Cisco SG300 do not unless you disable autonegotiation and set the link speed to 100M

[I suspect the boot-from-USB problem is the 'powering USB from the PoE HAT' known issue]
