Re: NOOBS sd card : What kind of specifications must an sd card have in order to be used as a NOOBS sd card ?

It just needs to be big enough. But, perhaps, not too big ie. >32GB where the "default" (ie. when purchased) format is exFAT not FAT32 which may cause "hiccups". AIUI, PINN**, an improved "replacement", which is still actively maintained, handles such "issues"...

+1 probably ubuntu impish will be released faster. My recollection is the version of Raspberry Pi OS based on Buster was released a week before Debian Buster was official I'm probably remembering the Stretch release. Raspbian Buster was released to coincided with the launch of the 4B, the 4B was re...

Re: Booting pi from LiveCD on external cd drive

Hi Wildfire, Thanks for the advice. You're right, trying to convert a CD to something bootable would be impossible for me at this stage. I'll work my way through the book and put this idea on the backburner. I appreciate the help! As already noted, that CD has code to run on an Intel or AMD x86 CPU...

Re: Why is wifi so unreliable on RPI4?

I connect a small fan, wifi goes out the window. I connect a usb3 ssd, wifi is down the toilet. I connect absolutely nothing, boot the pi, and 5 out of 10 times, wifi still sucks. Sometimes it is great though. Goes up to 50mpbs (on a 2.4ghz connection). But it is so unreliable. You never know what ...

Re: DF Robot IoT Router with CM4 - r8168 driver for the RTL8111 PCI ETH1 ethernet interface

Recently I bought a DF Robot IoT Router https://www.dfrobot.com/product-2242.html and a Compute Module 4. Raspbian OS 32bit doesn't have the r8168 driver for the RTL8111, that is the controller of the PCI ETH1 ethernet interface. To get the PCI ETH1 interface up and running, the 64bit kernel must b...

Re: heat-conducting substance (Thermal Paste, thermal pads and thermal tape)

I'm just worried because it's my first Raspberry Pi and wanna work on how much stability is possible in my conditions. Stop worrying! All Pi's will protect themselves from overheating in the usual way. Just like your smartphone, they "throttle" back the CPU speed and the voltage until the...

Pi 4, 8GB of ram.

UPDATE:

IT WORKS NOW (sorta).

The screen is flashing on and off, and when it does work it is glitched and stretched. The Pi also heats up almost immediately.

Hi everyone! I use a Raspberry Zero W and I know this Raspberry needs a little power, around 1A. So my point is: do I have to buy a charger with an output less tan 1A, or can I use any charger and hope that the Raspberry will use only the energy it needs, without shorting? https://www.raspberrypi.o...

What kind of specifications must an sd card have in order to be used as a NOOBS sd card ? Noobs is no longer the recommendation, though if need a choice of Operating System then maybe PiNN installer /chooser would suffice: https://www.raspberrypi.org/software https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/view...

Re: Pi 0 audio over USB

Yeah, sort of, but small. I was hoping to make a pi grrl. Sure, but if you want to keep it compact then the suggestion for wiring a few components to the GPIO to get analog output might be the best option. Either that, or get a Pi Zero W model (or maybe a WH with pre-installed 2x20 pin headers). Ye...
