Re: PiKrellCam: motion vector detect + OSD web interface- USB Flash Drive permission error

Hi all! I posted this in the general troubleshooting forum, but I just found this. (I am also a pi beginner) when I type: sudo chown -R pi:pi /mnt/usb2 I can't change ownership of any of the subfolders, and get an error that says "operation not permitted" WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?? Is there ...

Re: updated but new verson won't start

I have been running PiKrellCam on an old Pi model A board and it's worked for years. I just clicked the "update" button on the PKC webpage, and it apparently updated but then when restarted, the camera view would not start. I then rebooted, and removed and reinstalled PiKrellcam and it st...

Re: PiKrellCam: motion vector detect + OSD web interface

Thanks Bill that's really useful. Sorry another question as I can't see those files in my containerised install. There are all sorts of permissions errors on the install so I think that will be the reason. Are those files generated by the install script (I can't see any reference in the script) or ...

Re: PiKrellCam: motion vector detect + OSD web interface

Does anyone know where the motion detection settings (including vector magnitude etc etc) are stored. I have looked for these in the pikrellcam.conf file but not found them. Motion settings are associated with presets. If you have servos configured the config file is ~/.pikrellcam/preset-servos.con...

Re: PiKrellCam: motion vector detect + OSD web interface

I would very much like to do this myself. I want to be able to put out live without access to the system menu. The live.php file has an "onclick" that should not be there. So edit ~/pikrellcam/www/live.php and change the third line from the bottom to remove the onclick. That is, change th...

Re: PiKrellCam: motion vector detect + OSD web interface (BUTTONS)

@CharlyDelta, you have started with an example that "onclick" of the custom button tries to fill a new webpage for the client. What you need when you create the custom buttons is to put them into a form that posts a message back to the PHP server so it can run a php script on the sever whi...

Re: PiKrellCam: motion vector detect + OSD web interface

Hi, I have a couple of questions, Is there a way I could add another log button into the webpage linking to a different text file? Re: PiKrellCam: motion vector detect + OSD web interface

I am seeing the occasional h264 file in the videos file and when I do a conversion using ffmpeg I see this warning Timestamps are unset in a packet for stream 0. This is deprecated and will stop working in the future. Fix your code to set the timestamps properly Is this a problem waiting to happen ...

Re: PiKrellCam: motion vector detect + OSD web interface

Just updated to V5 of PiKrellCam (using the Upgrade button in the web interface), and now the camera view will not show up. It's stuck on "Waiting for first image". VNC/SSH-ing into the Pi works fine. BTW this is on a RPI 3a+, but that really shouldn't matter. I have 3 other cameras runni...

Re: PiKrellCam: motion vector detect + OSD web interface

Hello, Hopefully somebody can tell me why the h264 file is being deleted. I'm still getting thumbnails but no videos. It was working while it all laid strewn across my desk but now that I've put it in a housing and added some at-commands it's all stopped. Here's a section from the logs taken a few ...

Any idea why I can't delete files through the web page?
The www-data user needs write permission for the web page to able to delete, so recheck that.

From the command line, a quick test that www-data can delete is:

Code: Select all

sudo -u www-data bash -c "rm /path_to_samba_file"
Does that work?

I tried the above but it still hangs when I am trying to set the motion boxes at 20fps. I'll wait until an update and use the v2 camera in the meantime, Thanks, Sam This is with a Pi 4? That's where I get the issue. The problem is that two video paths are running and on the Pi 4 the GPU is not keep...

Re: PiKrellCam: motion vector detect + OSD web interface

Hi all, Just stumbled upon Pikrellcam and found it very interesting indeed! Is this forum still active? So far I have it compiled on a Pi3B, and working very well! I've just connected servos and got them working too. The documentation provided made it all relatively simple, so good work whoever did...

Re: PiKrellCam: motion vector detect + OSD web interface

Nice, thank you. What about focusing? Focusing is possible but it is a challenge, trying to optimize a 4k image using a 800 pixel preview updated at only 2 fps. Running headless over the builtin wifi, no faster preview rate seemed to work stably; but I am not sure if the limit is really wifi or som...

Re: Raspberry Pi High Quality Camera

I found this lens interesting and largely because of the $28 price I've ordered one to try. It's slow delivery so I won't be able to see results for a while: https://www.amazon.com/angxi-F1-2-Interface-Security-Camera/dp/B0872B9V5S/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=cs+mount+lens+1%2F2.5%22+8mm&qi...

Re: PiKrellCam: motion vector detect + OSD web interface

The HQ camera photos look like a great improvement. If only I had tried to get an order in before they sold out. But I'll eventually get an HQ camera and have a pikrellcam update then. In the meantime, if you care to try it, bypass the GUI and edit pikrellcam.conf by hand after quitting pikrellcam. ...

Re: Outdoor Security Sensors

I have several PIR sensors around my house that signal back to a Pi wireless. They are 433MHz PIR modules that are read by a SDR dongle on the Pi. I bought these a while back and at least at the time they transmitted their codes on 433 MHz: https://www.harborfreight.com/search?q=driveway%20alert%20s...

Is there any way to "artificially" trigger a motion event after a motion video has reached its time limit? I set the video time limit to 5-6 minutes because the Pi0 i am using cannot handle the conversion of too big files. However, there are times that I would like pikrellcam to start a m...

Re: PiKrellCam: motion vector detect + OSD web interface

@billw - Is pikrellcam using mostly GPU or CPU for the motiondetection and video conversion? Perhaps I am setting the memory split to high (256mb on Pi0) I remember a block diagram of the program that I saw but I cannot find it anymore, though I think a lot of processing went on in the GPU? Re: Combining PIR and normal motion detection?

You could run pikrellcam without enabling motion detect videos because it always writes motion detects to a FIFO regardless if it is enabled to record videos. There is an example script example-motion-detects-fifo that reads this motion detect fifo to get all motion detects and you could combine you...
