Re: Tutorial: Add a Real Time Clock to the Raspberry Pi

I'm using this RTC www.sparkfun.com/products/99. It came with a battery installed so I assume it's good but perhaps not! I will have another play with it. Thanks again for your help.

Re: Tutorial: Add a Real Time Clock to the Raspberry Pi

still no joy unfortunately  but I noticed a couple of things. firstly I had been using the line modprobe i2c-dev which was already included in my etc/modules file rather than modprobe i2cdev (without the hyphen). I guess that makes a difference. Secondly when I include the lines four lines in m...

Re: Tutorial: Add a Real Time Clock to the Raspberry Pi

sorry, yes those lines are already in my modprobe file and the other line has already been commented out. Basically I started with a clean install of Occidentalis v0.2, and followed the Adafruit tutorial exactly. I thought everything was working fine until I noticed that the system clock was becomin...

Re: Tutorial: Add a Real Time Clock to the Raspberry Pi

running ls -l /etc/rcS.d/*mod* I get:
/etc/rcS.d/S06kmod -> ../init.d/kmod
You have added i2c-bcm2708, i2cdev & rtc-ds1307 to /etc/modules, right ?
Not specifically, I am using the Occidentalis v0.2 image and just followed the steps in the tutorial plus your additional instructions.

Re: Tutorial: Add a Real Time Clock to the Raspberry Pi

I've added "echo ds1307 0x68 > /sys/class/i2c-adapter/i2c-0/new_device" to /etc/default/hwclock since I'm using a ds1307. I also tried adding the same line to /etc/init.d/hwclock. I only have ssh access at the moment but I had a search through the logs and found the following in dmesg, sys...

Re: Tutorial: Add a Real Time Clock to the Raspberry Pi

@psergiu Thanks, it turned out I was missing the S10hwclock.sh symlink. The update-rc.d hwclock.sh enable command ran successfully and I followed all of the other instructions, however upon reboot the system clock is still resetting to 1970 and I have to run hwclock -s to set the correct time. What ...

Re: system time not syncing from RTC

Thanks, seemed like exactly what I was looking for but for some reason I ran into a problem running update-rc.d hwclock.sh enable. Anyway I posted in the other topic, thanks for the link.

Re: Tutorial: Add a Real Time Clock to the Raspberry Pi

run:
update-rc.d hwclock.sh enable
I'm getting:

Code: Select all

update-rc.d: using dependency based boot sequencing
update-rc.d: error: no runlevel symlinks to modify, aborting!
Any ideas?

system time not syncing from RTC

I have just installed a RTC (DS1307) exactly following the adafruit tutorial here: http://learn.adafruit.com/adding-a-real-time-clock-to-raspberry-pi/overview Everything went great, the clock was detected, I updated the RTC from the system time and added the appropriate lines to /etc/modules and /et...

Re: Arduino compile error

ok well I seem to have solved the problem by renaming arduino-1.0.1/hardware/tools/avr/bin to arduino-1.0.1/hardware/tools/avr/bin_old Apparently this forces Arduino to compile using the system avr routines instead of the ones installed with Arduino. Hopefully this helps someone else with the same p...

Arduino compile error

I've installed Arduino 1.0.1 on my pi. The IDE loads but I get a compile error when trying to verify or upload a sketch. I get the following output: /home/pi/arduino-1.0.1/hardware/tools/avr/bin/avr-gcc: line 3: /home/pi/arduino-1.0.1/hardware/tools/avr/bin/../bin.gcc/avr-gcc: cannot execute binary ...
