STICKY: Picademy - Your Questions Answered
In April 2014 we ran our first ever training event for teachers. We called it ‘Picademy‘, and we selected 24 fabulous teachers to attend and gave them a qualification and a very special badge at the end. Our aim was to give teachers the skills and knowledge they need to get creative with computing, ...

Re: Picademy for non-teachers
The best advice I can give is to apply. We always try to over fill our courses and often spots become available at short notice. If you do not apply, then we won't call. The reason the course is for educators, is because it is full of teaching and learning CS pedagogy that relates to CS curriculums ...

Re: blind users of sonic pi
You might like to read through this thread about making Sonic more accessible for blind users here https://github.com/samaaron/sonic-pi/issues/962
You might also like to contribute to the discussion as they are looking for input from those using it who are blind/visually impaired.

Hi thanks for the feedback. The best way to feedback to us so we'll pick it up quickly is via the resource itself and by clicking on the github icon at the bottom of the page and then issues and submit a comment. We are looking into the 404 error because on github (the backend we use for resources) ...

Re: Progression of Lessons for Beginners
Sounds like fun! I guess I would start with the getting started with Raspberry Pi lesson to introduce to them to what the device is, and to Linux if it is their first experience. Then I'd recommend some physical computing activities using scratch like Physical Computing with Scratch or Robot Antenna...

Anyone looking to move from block based programming with physical computing should definitely check out this great library designed for this very use case. Very simple to program components with the Raspberry Pi. I wish it was around when I wrote my book!

Re: new to this
Hi niania - Let's see if we can work out why your Pi is not booting. I have a few questions which you can answer yes or no to in your reply. 1. When you plug in your Pi do you see any lights on the Raspberry Pi itself? 2. Is your TV switched on and swicthed to the correct input e.g. HDMI 1 (you can ...

Re: how i can become a certified trainer
We do not have a Raspberry Pi certified trainer programme at this time. Currently we are training educators in response to changes in national curriculums and the need for good quality professional development in computational thinking. If you are a teacher then you can apply for any of our Picademy...

I'm pretty excited about some the HDMI screens for Raspberry Pis that are coming onto the market. The people at PiTop have created the CEED which we are hoping to test out at our Bett Show workshops this year. I believe that Kano are sell this Raspberry Pi screen altho I've not seen one to test yet....

Re: Picademy #8 Application: no acknowledgement?
We do not send out acknowledgement messages for Picademy applications. We have only just recently closed the Feb form and are unlikely to look at April applications until end of feb/early march.
There will not be a picademy in March.
Thanks.
