Re: Pi Zero 2W Wifi drops out, Pi Zero W does not. Power_save turned back on.

Hi David, I also noticed that the problem of not being able to SSH into the Pi Zero 2 was particular to coming in from my Mac OSX (Catalina) when the Pi Zero 2's setting was power_save on. Even when the Pi Zero 2 wouldn't respond to the SSH in from the Mac, it would respond to an SSH in from another...

Re: Pi Zero 2W Wifi drops out, Pi Zero W does not. Power_save turned back on.

I'm wondering how weird this can get! Left the Zero 2W running all day yesterday with Bullseye -- WiFi stayed active all day. Same overnight, was able to connect fine this morning. No camera connected, no motion installed. This afternoon, I left it running on Buster. Wifi dropped off the network, ho...

Re: Pi Zero 2W Wifi drops out, Pi Zero W does not. Power_save turned back on.

Good Morning All, thanks for the replies. The power supply is an official one for the Pi 4, so it is definitely man enough. There's no indication on the boot screen of a power problem, when I've got it working with the monitor and keyboard as opposed to headless. I suspect however, that either Buste...

Re: Pi Zero 2W Wifi drops out, Pi Zero W does not. Power_save turned back on.

Update 2. Apparently, coming up in Power_save mode is the expected mode. Fine, I can live with that, but why does the Zero W work fine for days but the Zero 2W not work for longer than 2 minutes even with power_save disabled in /etc/rc.local by adding the line: /sbin/iw dev wlan0 set power_save off ...

Re: Pi Zero 2W Wifi drops out, Pi Zero W does not. Power_save turned back on.

Update. The Zero 2W drops off the network after around 2-3 minutes. I started it at 11:21 this morning and it dropped at 11:23. Adding wireless-power off or post-up iw dev wlan0 set power_save off to the wlan0 configuration file in /etc/network/interfaces.d has no effect, it still comes up with powe...

Pi Zero 2W Wifi drops out, Pi Zero W does not. Power_save turned back on.

Is there something different with Pi Zero 2W's WiFi over that of the Pi Zero W? I have a Pi Zero W, not the 2 variant, set up as a "motion" camera to watch over our puppy. It's running Buster and is fully up to date with all patches etc. After turning off WiFi Power Save, which defaults to...

Re: ST-Link for debugging?

Thanks @pica200. I might still give it a try, Given I'm developing all my stuff on my laptoo and not on a Pi, yet, I was wondering. My ST-Link devices are most likely clones. Bought from AZ Delivery in Germany, before Brexit made things "difficult". Thanks again. Stay safe. Cheers, Norm.

I'm working my way through the docs even as I type! I have to say that for "day 1" docs, you have done yourselves proud. Thanks for all the effort.

ST-Link for debugging?

I'm rather excited by the new Pico and I'm still waiting for my subscription copy of Hackspace magazine to get my hands on my first one, even though the shops have the magazine before me! :( Anyway, I've been reading the docs and it says that for debugging (C/C++) I should be connecting a Pi4 to the...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 Wifi Setup

Whats the secret to get wifi working on the Pi3. I have upgraded and installed to latest versions. Wifi is on wlan0 but I am unable to scan for networks. How do I setup the wifi? Blowing my own trumpet, but theses might help, although I find it strange that you don't have an wpa_supplicant.conf fil...

Re: apt-get upgrade taking forever!

Evening rpdom, I left my dist-upgrade running all morning and most of the afternoon yesterday. It stuck on the wolfram-engine package and it was making several hundred "get" requests to archive.raspberrypi.org. From time to time a message appeared telling my that the down load speed was 1....

Re: apt-get upgrade taking forever!

Just dist-upgrading my Pi B2 and Wolfram-Engine is killing it. I've got 160 Mb/s (Megabits!) on Virgin Media - at least that's what the broadband speed tester tells me, but I'm seeing a message on screen from time to time that's telling me that this update is getting download speeds of 1.6 bytes per...

Re: So looks like there's a new raspbian

Evening mfa298, If you've got a number of devices to put configuration onto then it might be worth looking at the various configuration management tools out there (chef/ puppet/ ansible/ salt etc.). which will let you push configuration out to various devices. Yup, I would agree with the chef/puppet...

Re: So looks like there's a new raspbian

Evening, I was expecting this post a bit sooner. Many would argue that a purely static IP is obsolete and in some cases disruptive to the network. I am not sure I agree, but it's a convenient excuse. >.> The main problem is that there is no clear line to draw and supporting edge cases leads to havin...

Re: So looks like there's a new raspbian

With the new raspberrypi-net-mods, if /boot/wpa_supplicant.conf exists, it will be moved over /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf. This is done through /etc/network/if-pre-up.d/01-wpa-config-copy. It may take a short while for the load balancers to sync this update. I just used this feature whe...

Re: Fixed IP different location

If your pi has a static IP on a particular lan, then connecting to another lan will work provided that your static IP is not conflicting it any device on the new lan, and your netmask matches the new one too. I suspect he default gateway should also match. If your IP is 192.168.1.50 with a netmask o...

Re: Tried all solutions: No Wifi Connection

Evening. It sounds like you are getting an IP address from your router now. The "manual" option requires editing /etc/dhcpcd.conf to assign a static IP, default route and nameserver which will get copied out to /etc/resolv.conf etc as required. Still, you only need a static IP if you need ...

Greetings, Funnily enough, I too had the problem of a seemingly random IP address being assigned to my WiFi only yesterday! OK, good luck! I don't have my pi set up headless o I can't comment on whether or not that is Wat is causing the problem. For what it's worth, I added French to my pi and that has an AZERTY rather than QWERTY keyboard layout. When I changed to zfrench, typing was "interesting" in Terminal....

Hi selianpi, this might work for you....but only if you are using Raspbian and have the GUI in use. I assume that when you are using the Terminal, you are using it from the GUI and not at the command line. So, having got that out of the way... * Right-click on a blank part of the task bar - mine's a...
