Re: Suitable for ISS project?

There's lots of stuff "up there" that isn't strictly rated for the environment, but gets used anyway (No, I cannot say what, but more than one company use Pi stuff on satellites). This is a University project, so not going to have the same hardening requirements as more mission critical st...

IIRC, failure to flash the memory will result in this. Are you sure the flash is being programmed correctly?

Re: pi4 and pi5 boot freez after few days of useing

Bought a new 32GB card: IR-M2AA-0320R12. My observation after 26 days of use: "No problems." Conclusion: Raspberry OS or Raspberry Pi board has a problem with working with a micro SD card that is larger than 32GB (when the operating system is on that micro SD). This information should be ...

Re: CAM1 lags behind CAM0 on CM4 when running dual camera

That should work fine, I've had exactly the same setup running to compare two camera results. A multi-second delay is really odd, where is the data being stored for the delay! Are you displaying on an attached monitor?

Re: Asking for some guide RE a beginners' OS choice

The games run at 0.3 fps A computer for games costs $2,160.85. A Zero costs $8.94. :?: Your comparison to RISC OS is useful. Did you look at those games? They are 8bit retro games that run smoothly on a 1 MHz cpu with 64k of Ram. AFAIK the zero 1 has 700 MHz and 500 MB. I can only assume that the f...

Re: Are all 3B+ the same?

It's not just the revision number, the Dialog PMIC requires different setup data to be sent to it to get it to start up.

The PCN for the change is here:

Re: RPi5 8GB hanging and occasionally logging out

Seems to be after today's Wayfire update everything is ok now. At least, previously I had issues while closing some apps only, but anyway, we can be sure after some testing. There was a fix in today's apt update for this logging out issue. I might ask to find out what was changed, cause it's a weir...

Re: Power supply for PI 5

It's diffcult to now for sure whether either of those will work, though like James; I'd be dubious of something with a detachable cable. There will be losses there. I've often found that power supplies can sometimes be rather... optimistically rated. It might be worth reading the reviews..They don'...

Try gc.disable() around your function to see if it makes things more consistent.

Re: Are there benefits to be gained from creating a custom calibrated tuning file for the RPi GS Camera?

The way I look at it, the tuning files provided are a good tuning across the entire range of possible use cases. It's certainly possible that in very specific lighting and a constant environment, you might get a better custom tuning. I'd run the camera through the tuning software, and see if the ima...

I have had enough here. Banning this user for the constant stream of abuse he aims at other forum members, both here and offline. This is an entirely inappropriate way to behave to people who are trying to help and is not welcome here.

Re: Power supply for PI 5

I doubt either of those will work as well as the official supply, if at all. They won't deliver 5A at 5V as they have detachable cables.

Use a Pi4 supply if you have one, 3A is good enough for many use case.

I tried running it on a USB power bank which is 5A fast charging rated, it won't take the power. I tried running it on a USB-C 185 watt laptop power supply, it won't take power. In both cases it will boot, but it will not draw high current and freezes/warns in the OS. Is it going back? nevermind it...

Thanks all, that is super informative! Apologies, when i mentioned sending the green wire to ground, that was with a 5k1 resistor. I must have been excited and missed the details. I think I'll chuck on a variable resistor and some multimeters and see if there is a resistance that gives 5v rather th...
