Re: USB Serial & PWM - SDK bug?

Hippy, thank you for the wise words. I added a 250ms delay after the the stdio init then put the rest of a code in a while(1) {...} loop and we are in business. So its not a bug its user error. Thanks for your input guys, I can proceed to try and make something more useful using the PWM now. I just ...

Re: USB Serial & PWM - SDK bug?

There is something funky going on because modifying my out of tree 'hello_usb', which works, to use 'measure_pwm_duty.c' doesn't create '/dev/ttyACM*'. The 'CMakeLists.txt' files are identical except project name and I had to add the 'hardware_pwm" library. Both include 'pico_enable_stdio_usb(...

Re: USB Serial & PWM - SDK bug?

I didn't need to do anything fancy with the cmake files. The SDK is OK, no bug there. Ok so it is possible to use PWM and USB serial. How were you able to make STDIO use USB rather than the UART without using the CMake files? The only difference I can see between hello-serial and hello-usb is that ...

Re: USB Serial & PWM - SDK bug?

I thought I had given a concise description in the previous post. I modify the CMakeLists for the measure_duty_cycle.c example to enable USB serial and disable UART serial. When complied (cmake then make), USB serial isnt working and CMakeCache.txt has USB disabled (even though enabled in CMakeLists...

Re: USB Serial & PWM

I have resinstalled the SDK on another Pi, and I am still getting the same results. Hello_usb works fine, but if I try to reconfigure pwm_measure_duty_cycle example to use the USB serial then the USB serial doesnt detect on windows or linux machines. I suspect the USB Serial and PWM are mutually exc...

Re: USB Serial & PWM

Yes, forgot to say that.
Hello_usb worked fine.
I even re-flashed hello_usb back onto the pico after trying measure_duty_cycle to ensure the USB serial was still working

cheers

[Solved] - USB Serial & PWM - SDK bug?

*** EDIT *** changed the subject as i think there could be a bug in the SDK after my latest findings in post 4 I have searched but cant find the answer to this question. I have tried to compile the PWM measure_duty_cycle using the USB serial rather than UART0 but it doesn't seem to work when trying ...

Re: HELP: iptables & geoip

Ok Fred, I worked out the steps. 1. Boot New JESSIE-Lite Image and do the usual setup in Raspi-Config sudo raspi-config 2. Update APT and Install packages that we will need (not sure if all are needed, but this seems to work) sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install git bc libncurses5-dev...

Hi Fred, yes , I have (somehow) managed to get it working. watch this space as I'm going to try and re-create the process on a fresh install just to ensure I know how to do it again. Give me a few days and I should (all being well) be able to post instructions on the steps I took. I have just got ba...

Re: HELP: iptables & geoip

 no, im still getting the same fault! /tmp/buildd/... file not found. all the other messages relate to /usr/src/... so is it meant to be using /usr/src/ where its meant to be working or should there be a /tmp/buildd/ folder structure with the files it says are missing? as I have looked in /tmp...

I had tried that when looking at compiling the kernel, but when before starting the compile i searched the linux (kernel source) folder i couldnt find anything relating to xt_geoip so i didnt actually compile. Re: HELP: iptables & geoip

Actually the info about the module-assistant I gave was inaccurate. I took a fresh Jessie install (Jessie Lite). installed git rpi-source bc build-essential tmux xtables-addon-source ran rpi-source which seemed to work ok then ran the module-assistant as in the first port and hit the hurdle that has...

Hi Dougie, thanks for taking the time to reply. I stumbled across rpi-source during my googling and have tried it. SOLVED: iptables & geoip

Hi guys, I have been trying in vain to get geoip blocking working with iptables on one of my Pi's; I'm getting stupid amount of script kiddies trying to brute force my ssh daemon, fail2ban is blocking them, but figured its better to block countries I dont want access to my system at all. I have trie...

Hi Gordon, What happens now the RPi B+ has been released, the Pi-DAC wont fit on the 40 pin header of the B+ will it? The 8 pin header on the non plus model B is where the i2c bus is presented isnt it? I guess it will be somewhere on the 40 pin header on the B+. Are there any plans to make an adapte...

Hi Gordon, Had a bit of a volumio library update issue after taking it round to run through my friends HiFi. Re: ssh Raspi through multiple routers to the internet

You said in an earlier post that the Linksys isnt being used as a router. You had disabled DHCP and nothing is connected to the WAN port. Effectively using it as a 4 port switch and Wireless Access point. The Linksys router is connected via on of its 4 LAN ports to one of the LAN ports on the Bell S...

Re: Deathly Slow Speeds as a Media NAS

Don't use 802.11g. It's half-duplex and at best you'll only get around 22Mbps. 802.11n with its aggregation/block-acknowledgement will give you a much higher throughput. (Though you'll never get 480Mbps as you wish on a RPi as you would get CPU-bound). The snag is you'll need to replace your AP. 80...

Re: New Raspberry Pi Audio DAC card

Thanks for the reply Gordon. Not being a programmer I was hoping to use the RPLCD library which makes life easier. However I won't be able to if I need to use I2C. My research has led me to guides on using I2C connected LCDs which are beyond my limited (read as none existent) programming abilities. ...
