Re: STICKY - How to upgrade a Buster image to Bullseye

Just want to add my two bits, please. :D I have now completed the full-upgrade route on: RPi B RPi 3 RPi 4 All had DHCP, SSH, VNC, etc. No issue with any of these. Only the RPi B has a Python reference issue when building OpenCV (latest from GitHub) at the 100% mark (last furlong?). "Cannot fin...

Re: Which C++ Compiler for OpenCV under Bullseye

Hello @jahboater,

I forgot(?) to run build-essential after the upgrade. Everything is fine now. Thanks again.

Kind regards.

Re: STICKY - How to upgrade a Buster image to Bullseye

Sorry! (again?) :D

Operator/user error on my part! This full-upgrade method requires build-essential to be upgraded/reinstalled. My OpenCV make file is now happy!

Kind regards.

Re: STICKY - How to upgrade a Buster image to Bullseye

Hello! No platform issues in upgrading from Buster to Bulleye on ARMv6 rev 7 (v6l) although it took nearly 3 hours. Have a few SMTP and some simple home grown Python packages interfacing with sensors. Everything works fine. But I have run into a basic issue with OpenCV compilation using ccmake / cma...

Hello @jahboater,

Thanks for your prompt reply. I was trying to understand why gcc is installed but not g++. Thanks again for fielding this inquiry and your suggestion.

Which C++ Compiler for OpenCV under Bullseye

Hello! I have Bullseye installed. I've cloned OpenCV. My ccmake fails to recognize the installed compiler(s): /usr/bin/gcc /usr/bin/gcc-10 (?) /usr/bin/gcc-8 ccmake does a simple test with the specified (either default or designated) compiler and in my instance this test fails with both default and ...

Re: ISR guidance

OK. Newbie operator/user error!

Need to use debounce techniques to manage the flip-flop of the state variable. Use it routinely in Arduino sketches but my impatience in getting a Pico code to work got the better of me. Sorry for the false alarm.
Thanks, @fivdi for stepping up.

Kind regards.

Hello @fivdi, The following code snippet from the SDK documentation works on the same GPIO12 pin without any issue: p12 = machine.Pin(12, machine.Pin.IN, machine.Pin.PULL_UP) p12.irq(lambda pin: print("IRQ with flags:", pin.irq().flags()), machine.Pin.IRQ_FALLING) Any clue why the followin...

@fivdi, Thanks. Keeping everything else in the circuit the same but changing the mode for GPIO12 and placing an LED inline with the push button (+ resistor), I can light up the LED by pressing the button. I guess I will have to work a little bit more on debugging the connectivity given your suggesti...

Sensor Temperature Documentation

Hello, I browsed through the two SDK docs (C/C++ & Python) but could not find any explanation for the on-board temperature sensor. Does anyone have a link to an explanation for the equation(s) used in the demo exercises: sensorData = adc4.read_u16() * 3.3 / float(65535) sensorTemperature = 27 - ...

Names when multiple pico boards are connected

Hello,

Haven't read ALL the documentation as yet! Is it possible to give each pico board some name to override the current assigned name for the folder - RPI-RP2? The Rename option appears disabled by default. Thanks.

Re: Can’t install Ubuntu on RPI 4

Agree totally with the sentiments by RPi engineer(s) here. Two peeves : Canonical never tested their image with the 4GB model The image naming convention, i.e. without release date or minor version number, is a bit lame. Are we supposed to review the checksum to understand that the original release ...

Re: Ubuntu Server on Raspberry Pi 4

RPi4 4GB will not complete the boot using the current arm64 image. Setting total_mem=3072 in config.txt in the boot folder will complete the boot. Canonical never tested the 4GB model (it appears). No point wondering why; just fix it, Canonical! Patch published by Hui Wang works to restore access to...

Sorry if this has been covered already. Be very particular about the SD card. The original SD card as supplied by the U.S. distributor failed to boot - not a surprising experience based on related posts here. A trip to a local retailer for a well known brand remedied the situation and everything wor...
