Re: My quest for a case

Yeh, wall mounts aren't suitable for anything I'm doing at the moment. I may have to persuade a friend with a 3d printer to make me some. I'm surprised they aren't made like this these days. It seems to be a common issue amongst people I know

Re: My quest for a case

Yes I've used those since Nwazet brought them out. But they point at the ceiling in normal use. Or they get knocked over if left stood on end

My quest for a case

Can anyone help me in my quest to find the perfect case? I don't want much. What I want is a case that holds a camera module that doesn't point at the ceiling in nomal use, but out the front or side. I came close when I found the quattro case, although the camera fitting was the wrong way up and so ...

Just tried it on an upto date Zero W and it works just fine. It's about time I retired that old Pi I guess

Re: Official V4L2 driver

I've tried multiple times. The live view from motion just freezes. It doesn't error it just stops updating. However I should say that the device I'm testing this on is a rather old pi, in a remote location, still running Wheezy. I'll try it on something a little more current today

Re: Official V4L2 driver

Many thanks. Each time you run v4l2-ctl it disconnects Motion from the video stream, and I had Motion starting at boot. So when I made changes it appeared to do nothing. Once I restarted Motion after running the v4l2 commands it works fine. Many thanks

Re: Official V4L2 driver

Okay so I have night mode working if I use the v4l-ctl to capture, but I can't seem to get it to work if I use motion. Is there a trick to geting it working with motion?

Re: Official V4L2 driver

I'm sure I'm just being dumb, but I keep reading that I can just set the scene-mode to night, but I cannot see how. I've Googled it and got no where. I've tried various combinations of example code but nothing I've tried has worked. Like I say, I must be missing something obvious. Anybody give me an...

Re: A+ shortage?

"This has already been discussed a few times." You surprise me, I Googled around and searched on here and couldn't find any reference. I obviously looked in the wrong places. It is a little frustrating that, of the 4 main models, the Zero, A+, B+2 and B+3, the first two are so hard / impos...

A+ shortage?

Can I assume the A+ has been held back / withdrawn until the new version is released? I was asked to look into a bulk purchase of some A+'s for a possible project, and when I looked, no one seems to have any. RS says it won't have any until June. CPC / Farnell says it's no longer stocked. Allied say...

Re: Pi zero with camera module

There used to be the Odroid W which could use Raspian and the Pi camera http://www.hardkernel.com/main/products ... 0610189490 but unfortunately it was discontinued due to supply issues. You may be able to pick one up on ebay

Re: USB Microphone

I use one of these http://www.samsontech.com/samson/products/microphones/usb-microphones/gomic/ and it works well. I was hoping these might work as they seem the ideal size http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FG-Smallest-Super-USB-Mini-Desktop-Bluetooth-Microphone-for-PC-Netbook-Black-UK2-/371077186973?pt=UK_...

Re: Cameras form Aliexpress

yes, I got one. It's not bad. Image quality doesn't seem quite as good as the original, but not far off. The only odd thing I've found is if you turn off the led, it turns off the camera too

I'm seeing the same frozen avi's in VLC but not if I open them in Winamp or Irfanview. Not sure why VLC has a problem but I've also seeing the same problem with vanilla Motion avi's

Re: Reading SD Card with Windows

I use DiskInternals free Linux reader http://www.diskinternals.com/linux-reader/ It allows you to view and copy from an ext3 formatted card, but not to write to it. There are others that allow writing too, but I've not tried those. See here for example http://www.howtoforge.com/access-linux-partitio...

Re: Quality Issues with RS Shipments?

Mine was replaced but the replacement had a faulty ethernet/usb and would only accept one out of six SD cards, that all worked fine in my first edition pi, Sent this one back too.

Re: Quality Issues with RS Shipments?

I've just received mine. Nicely packaged in a pink box, but when I opened the anti static bag out fell an unsoldered capacitor which, it appears, should have been soldered in TP1. About to return it now
