Re: Transferring bookmarks

pcmanfm is just the actual name of the desktop 'File Manager' in RPiOS. I never save profiles, that's why my bookmarks file isn't in a profile folder, so apologies for that minor mis-information. If you move the entire chromium config folder it's probably better to rename the one you're replacing as...

Re: Transferring bookmarks

'ctrl-h' (holding control then pressing H at the same time) is for when you're viewing files/folders in pcmanfm, it's the keyboard shortcut to show hidden files/folders. It's the same as clicking the menu item 'View' then selecting 'Show Hidden' In terminal ls -a will show all files/folders includin...

Re: Transferring bookmarks

If you open your file manager (pcmanfm) and browse to ~/.config/ be aware of the dot before the c (a dot means it is a hidden folder, ctrl-h will show hidden files/folders), you will find a folder called chromium copying that across should copy all your chromium settings and bookmarks. If you just w...

Re: Is there any audio player with huge play/pause button in Raspberry Pi OS?

You could also try a 'bluetooth media button', they're used to control, for example, smart phone media players. They're around a tenner on ebay etc or a few quid on aliexpress if you're in no hurry to get it.

Re: Unable to get rpi-imager running for installing Raspberry Pi OS image on SD-Card

I realised that a simple dd operation is not enough for getting a working Raspberry Pi OS SD-Card image. T Unless you follow the help pages supplied by the good folks at Pi towers https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/computers/getting-started.html and scroll down to ' Copying the image to the ...

not a mod, but the product page clearly states The fanless , energy-efficient Raspberry Pi runs silently and uses far less power than other computers. and that is just not true. you don't have to solder anything for this "mod". idk, my kit came with 3xheatsink+1xfan. i tried removing the ...

Re: Haupauge DualHD (em28xx) driver broken. Kernel spam "write to i2c device at 0xcX failed with unknown error" on RPi4

I tried to recreate the errors from this thread on my pi and still no such luck. I set my mythtv backend to record for 2hrs from 4 HD channels simultaneously. That is 4 hd tv channels over 2 tuners (Mythtv can record from multiple channels on the same mux or record the full mux which seems a bit unn...

I don't use tvheadend but I do use the same Hauppauge adapter on a mythtv backend. It is a Pi4 4GB and I do not get these messages in my dmesg. I have a working kernel (both tuners available) I compiled last year(Linux 5.4.42-v7l+ #1 SMP Tue Jun 2) following the foundations instructions https://www....

Re: Pi NAS long term experiences?

I've been running my Raspberry Pi 2 Model B Rev 1.1 as a NAS since I bought it (probably some time in 2015). The only down time has been one failed HDD, one corrupted file system (from a failing power supply, not an RPF one, the HDD one) and power cuts (they don't cause any problems, it just means i...

also, the amazon link supplied states
Anker 60W 6-Port USB Wall Charger
So it is a charger compatible with phones and tablets not a stable power supply for electronic equipment.

Re: Microsoft GPG key suggestion

So what is the issue warranting a 14 page thread? The way it was included, or the inclusion itself? I believe it was the way it was included that caused the problem. Realvnc was added without any fuss, it is closed source. Wolfram was there from the start and it is closed source. I'm sure there are...

What's with the 12v? USB runs on 5v.
I have the same 7 port TP-Link USB3 hub, it's not currently getting used on a Pi but it does come with a 12v power supply.

So--at least in theory--MS is going to see (potentially) millions of "people" named "pi" with no further identifying information, save an IP address. This does not strike me as very useful information to any data aggregator. Except they could take that 'anonymous' number (40mill...

With regards to the IDE, I'm a fan of VSCode. I hope that is not Microsoft's VSCode. I demand it is removed now, or else I will stamp my feet and demand it again. Sorry, I'll get my coat. is that "demand" of yours accompanied with a threat of a legal action from your part? or you're just ...

I think that most of the people in this thread, like me, don't want anything to do with MS and their repos.

So, just commenting it out is best.
Maybe people should stop using linux then!
