Re: Raspberry Pi Touch display black screen

Apologies - found the answer to my question in raspi-config (advanced options), and selecting the fake driver seems to have solved my problem.

Re: Raspberry Pi Touch display black screen

I have recently updated from Jessie to Buster, and to the latest version of Qt. All my Qt programs seem to compile and work OK, but on starting all report "libEGL warning: DRI2 failed to authenticate". Unfortunately I do not understand Arjuntx2's solution on the GL driver - can someone cla...

Re: PI Face 2 for raspberry PI 4

@RamaSpaceShip Many thanks for that very useful bit of information. Trimming PCB's does not sound like something I would be comfortable doing, and it emphases my concern about the case which looks as if it would need dramatic surgery to allow for the new connector types & locations. I am wonderi...

Re: PI Face 2 for raspberry PI 4

What have you tried what are you struggling with? Have you cloned the Github stuff? Nowhere near trying anything yet - am at the stage of finding out what is involved in upgrading my PI3s, and whether it is worth the money/effort. After your previous replies, my immediate concern is getting a neat ...

Re: PI Face 2 for raspberry PI 4

It's using PLAIN OLD SPI so it will work with a RPi4, you just need to find a sane way to get the piface code downloaded from github and installed within your operating system build. Just to make sure I fully understand the issues here, could you please advise on what would seem to be 3 potential i...

Re: Suddenly Unable to Access Pis by Name

The solutions above don't seem to be reliable, and I have failed to solve the other problems (notably locking up with Delphi-based programs and Samba on Linux-based PVR), so I have given up and reverted to the previous Windows 10 build.

Unfortunately I have found another problem area with the W10 update so I may have to revert to the previous version rather than investigate this area further at present.

Re: Suddenly Unable to Access Pis by Name

Have just updated two of my Pis to version 4.9.35 Neither worked with PuTTy by name after the update, but the "publish-aaaa-on-ipv4=no" change alone to the ".conf" file fixed both. I will try to undo the Windows changes I have made to see if they are (still) necessary. Thanks eve...

Re: Suddenly Unable to Access Pis by Name

Should have said in my previous posts that FTP does appear to work Ok, leaving just PuTTy as the problem. Have tried installing Bonjour from the iTunes installer - no obvious improvement. Have also tried Paeryn's suggestion for the second change to the conf file, which seemed to do the trick on one ...

You need to get to Change Adaptor Options in Network Settings Then right-click Ethernet (or WiFi if using WiFI to connect to you LAN) Select Properties and then scroll down to Internet Protocl Version 6 and un-tick it That seems to have sorted all the issues - many thanks mattmiller. Re: Suddenly Unable to Access Pis by Name

Setting use-ipv6 to "no" in avahi-daemon.conf doesn't seem to help me either. If it is a Windows problem, I would prefer to see a solution at the PC end to avoid having to fiddle with the PI settings ever time I do a new build. However I have failed to find a way of disabling IPv6 on my PC...

Suddenly Unable to Access Pis by Name - Windows 10 Problem

For several years I have been accessing my Pi's from my Windows 10 PC by name (e.g. Pi8 as opposed to 192.168.1.9) by Samba, FTP and SSH. However in the last few days all access by name has stopped working and I have had to use the 192.168... address which is much less convenient. I have tried reboo...

Re: QT QHostInfo

If you use qmake you should probably just add QT += network in your .pro file and qmake will handle both include paths and linking automatically. That's a neater solution, thanks. The include statement is now "#include <QHostInfo>", and the LIBS addition is no longer needed. EMJB

Re: QT QHostInfo

Oops - just remembered the ".pro" file - I was looking for somewhere generic to all applications - sorry for that. It does seem rather illogical to include the network classes, but not to link to them by default. I have added "-lQt5Network" to the "LIBS +=" statement, a...

Re: QT QHostInfo

How are your make system for you application set up ? Standard make, cmake or qmake ? Using QtCreator or some other IDE ? I'm using the default Pi QT5 setup which I think uses qmake, with QtCreator. Since you now used a class from QtNetwork I will guess that you also has to link with QtNetwrok by a...

Re: QT QHostInfo

Then you probably need a -I<path> option on your gcc command line. Do you know where the QHostinfo file is on your system? The path to that directory is what you’d use with the -I option. Thanks - that has helped me move forward, but not there yet. I found both "QHostInfo" and "qhost...

I would like to use the QHostInfo class in my Pi QT application, but I get "QHostInfo: No such file or directory" error against the "#include <QHostInfo> " statement in the ".cpp" file. However "class QHostInfo;" in the ".h" file does not generate an...

Thanks, topguy - I thought Exif was a subset of the more general text data. Will take a close look at your recommendation, but at first sight looks rather more complicated than I had hoped.

QT & Reading EXIF data

I would like to be able to read the EXIF data in JPEG files on my Pi using QT5, but the QImage "text()" and "textKeys()" functions always return null strings even though I can see the EXIF data with PC-based applications. The file appears to be loading into the QImage as the &quo...
