Re: Regression in h264_v4l2m2m? Fragmented mp4, ffmpeg, movflag “empty_moov”

The colleague mentioned yesterday that 4.3.2/rpi_main, test/4.3.4/rpi_main, dev/4.4/rpi_import_1, dev/5.1/rpi_import_1 had been updated. Any fixes will reach apt in time. I don't know if it will fix your issue, but if you are able to compile ffmpeg then you could test. The code is https://github.com...

What happens if you take that last edid file on the 3B and copy it to /boot, then add hdmi_file=1 to /boot/config.txt, then try it on the Pi 4 with the TV?
Good suggestion, but you want hdmi_edid_file=1

state 0x6 [DVI CUSTOM RGB full 16:9], 1920x1080 @ 60.00Hz, progressive 0x6 = VC_HDMI_ATTACHED | VC_HDMI_DVI so we have hotplug asserted, but you have hdmi_force_hotplug=1 which hides the real state. Can you repeat this command with all hdmi_* lines removed from config.txt. Leave dtoverlay=vc4-fkms-...

ssh in when attached to TV and run:

That may be the issue. buster is legacy, with all development on bullseye.
Try installing a bullseye image and see how you get on.

Re: DVD Playback on RPi4

I've played physical DVDs (e.g. The Matrix) using kodi installed on RPiOS Bullseye and with LibreELEC on a Pi4 recently. On RPiOS as well as installing kodi you want to run "sudo apt install libdvdcss2" (which I think will then ask you to run "sudo dpkg-reconfigure libdvd-pkg"). ...

I actually brought this up during the Linux Plumbers Conference last week. I've been testing MGLRU on Pi 400, and will post the benchmark results once I have them. Please do. It's not clear if MGLRU will be enabled by default when merged upstream, or will be opt in. Any evidence of clear benefits (...

Great. It may also work if you set "WANT_PULSE=1" as an env variable,
although without testing, I'm not sure where is best to be picked up by the desktop launcher, rather that an interactive shell.

Re: Suspect GPU and Hardware accelleration problem, please help!

Try running without VNC to see what the performance should be. VNC will slow down the display update rate, and some users experience very slow update rate when no display is attached. Also test the VNC update rate when the Pi is booted with a display attached. If that is better there are ways of fak...

Re: MultiArch Kodi installation fails

I tried that a while ago,and asked the packaging guy about it, and the answer was that mutiarch support isn't automatic in a package, and the kodi package would need significant work to support it. From: https://wiki.debian.org/Multiarch/HOWTO There is a 'Multi-Arch' header in the package metadata o...

Re: Pi 4B 8GB low video performance

Kodi, and vlc running fullscreen are able to display the decoded video, untouched to a video plane using the hardware video scaler (HVS). X doesn't support video planes, so the video needs to be resized, converted to an RGB format and composited with the rest of the desktop. These operations tend to...

Re: RPI (4) low latency video playback - experimental analysis

Is it possible that since I am dealing with frames / raw data allocated by the decoder I get these tearing lines ?
