Re: owntone server (iTunes server)

OwnTone doesn’t support DLNA, but the Airplay format is lossless (ALAC), so I wouldn’t be concerned with that.

Re: owntone server (iTunes server)

Owntone currently supports Spotify Connect, I wondering would https://forums.raspberrypi.com/viewtop ... start=100 also work as pipe? Might be possible. You would need some way to get the audio written to a pipe in 44100 pcm 16 (little endian) format, like you do for Spotify. If the Tidal software ...

Re: owntone server (iTunes server)

I think the image you have might be Bullseye, not Buster. Maybe 'uname -a' will show it to you. Bullseye doesn't have those packages that apt is showing errors for. If it is Bullseye, just follow the instructions for that instead, and hopefully all should be good.

Re: owntone server (iTunes server)

When you add them via the web interface they should be persisted (the podcast URL is saved in the sqlite file songs3.db in the playlists table, as I recall). I can't say why that isn't the case for you. It doesn't sound like a permission problem, because if owntone couldn't write to songs3.db it wou...

Re: owntone server (iTunes server)

Looks like you are trying to install the Buster package on Stretch, and that won't work. I haven't made a build for Stretch, since it is quite old and I think there will be compability issues. I recommend you upgrade to Buster or maybe even Bullseye. If that isn't an option then I guess you have to ...

Could you raise an issue here? The interface in this forum is a bit clunky for having a troubleshooting issue. Please use the "Bug" issue template.

Re: owntone server (iTunes server)

I have updated my RPi repo to serve OwnTone 28.2.115. Note that the repo now also offers a version for Bullseye. I have also updated the instructions in this thread's first post on how to add the repo to conform with current best practices. Other than that, the new release is mostly to bring the ver...

Re: owntone server (iTunes server)

I've now updated my repo to offer OwnTone version 28.1.114. This version has: - Built-in Spotify support, meaning no more dependency on deprecated libspotify. Note that this changes how OwnTone logs into Spotify, so after you upgrade you may need to log out and then in again. Log out by going to htt...

Re: owntone server (iTunes server)

-f S24_3LE -r 48000
Try with S16_LE and 44100, that’s the default that owntone expects (though I think you can modify that in the config.

Re: owntone server (iTunes server)

No, it just adds your Spotify library so you can play that music. It is not Spotify Connect.

You don’t need libspotify any more. Just install owntone as the original post says.

Re: owntone server (iTunes server)

I think a possible blocker for such a solution is that the Airplay audio would be considerably delayed. Unless you can control the video delay and make it match.

Re: owntone server (iTunes server)

However I did discover that while the bluetooth speakers do not show in Owntone as a individual device, if I active the HTTP stream, they play fine. Is that the expected behavior? I thought that my Bluetooth speakers would show like my Airplay ones do - as a separate device. But that was just a gue...

Re: owntone server (iTunes server)

The part of the log you included just shows that the server is stopping. The reason for that should be logged a few lines above. The most common reason is that the server is already running, so check that no other instance of forked-daapd or owntone is already running (`ps ax | grep forked-daapd` an...

Re: owntone server (iTunes server)

When I add a pocast to the itunes server I see it as shown in the screenshot. attached. Question is where are the links for this list of podcasts stored? They are also stored in songs3.db (in the files table). I already upgraded. Does that mean it imported the podcasts from forked-daapd? Yes, but i...

Re: owntone server (iTunes server)

The most important reason for the new name is that forked-daapd was difficult to say and understand. With regard to RPi1 then yes, it should still work. When I make a debian package I don't select hardware to support, I only select architecture (armhf) and distribution (currently Buster). In any cas...

Re: owntone server (iTunes server)

Since forked-daapd is now renamed to OwnTone, I have a made an update of both my RPi build and my RPi Debian repository. As the original post now says, the repository is now called owntone, so the line to have in /etc/apt/sources.list is from now on: deb http://www.gyfgafguf.dk/raspbian/owntone/ bus...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

Another update of my forked-daapd RPi build, this one is to 27.4.112. The changes are:

- fix path traversal vulnerability
- support for "flush" Shairport metadata command

Since this fixes a security issue I urge everyone to upgrade.

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

I have updated the forked-daapd RPi version to 27.2.111. The changes are:

- use compressed ALAC for AirPlay 2 to save bandwidth
- add json api for updating currently playing metadata, incl. artwork
- fix iTunes xml scanning that was broken with last RPi release
- some internal refactoring

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

Yes, the basic way of doing that is like so (assuming your forked-daapd library is /srv/music): mkfifo /srv/music/AudioIn arecord -f S16_LE -r 44100 -c 2 -t raw > /srv/music/AudioIn So here arecord will write the audio from your sound card to a pipe, which forked-daapd will then play. "AudioIn&...

My forked-daapd RPi repo is now updated to build 27.2.110. The changes since 109 are: - support for newer devices that only support Airplay 2 - web interface improvements, e.g. changes to "Recently added", new settings - mpd improvement for Rigelian (support modified-since filter) - fix fo...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

I can't think of a pretty way of doing it, but here is an ugly/hackish way that might work: 1. Write the metadata directly to forked-daapd's db, you would need to update the queue table (see https://github.com/ejurgensen/forked-daapd/blob/master/src/db_init.c#L171) 2. Make a phony update of the queu...
