It was Michael.
Could be, but he promised a refund in 24 to 48 hours.
I'll mail it out and see what happens.

Re: Dead Pi4 - bad dealer

Ok, update..... At 3 pm yesterday, Aug 31, I received a email from Michael at Vilros in which he appologized and promised that my money would be refunded in 24 to 48 hours. He also sent a printable return authorization label. As of right now, it's been 31 hours since his email. I'm watching my bank ...

Re: Dead Pi4 - bad dealer

If things turn out ok, I certainly will post about it here.

Meanwhile, I ordered another Pi4 from The PiShop.
Within two hours, they had shipped it.
Now I wait.

Re: Dead Pi4 - bad dealer

I paid with a debit card. I already called my bank. They say they can do nothing. The second time I called, "Jeff" put me on hold while he "talked to his supervisor". He then gave me a support ticket number and promised to send me an email later that day with a printable return a...

Re: Dead Pi4 - bad dealer

I've spoken to them directly, TWICE!
They've promised the world and done NOTHING!
They get away with this because no one will say anything!
The Raspberri Pi Foundation approved them as a dealer.
Maybe they should UNapprove them!

Re: Dead Pi4 - bad dealer

Just tried it again with no SD card. Same thing. The red light on the board stays lit steadily. Not a flicker on the monitor. Tried both HDMI ports. Nothing. This Pi is dead. P.S. Just got an automated email from Vilros asking me to fill out their survey on how much I like my new Pi !!! Really? Are ...

Dead Pi4 - bad dealer

Sorry if this is the wrong place for this, but, just the facts.... Ordered a new Pi4b 4gig from Vilros, an approved Pi dealer. Dead-Out-Of-The-Box. The red light comes on steady. Nothing else. Used the approved Pi power supply that came with my previous Pi4. Tried two different micro SD cards with t...

And the better option as usual is to do IP provisioning in the DHCP server of the router. For specific hosts that need an address that never changes, map their MAC address (or sometimes host name) to an IP address in one of the configuration pages of the DHCP server. Single point of administration,...

Ethernet/internet problem

Hey Guys, I have an older Pi3 running Wheezy with a static IP. It was running a small website for years and worked fine til it was shut down over a year ago. I recently powered it up for the first time in a long time. But...It is now connected to a new Asus router. (Asus RT-AC1200 V2) The Pi seems t...

Re: Applying power to a Pi 4?

Thanks guys.
Now, I see that there are 8 ground pins on the GPIO.
Which do I use? One of them? Two of them?
Same for the underside of the USBC.
Use both TP-7 and TP-12? ....or just one?
Thanks again for your help.

Applying power to a Pi 4?

Hey guys, How can I apply power to a Pi 4 WITHOUT using that USB-C plug? Why... I have my Pi mounted in a small box, with a UBEC inside. 12 volts comes into the box, the UBEC converts it to 5 volts. Where can I attach the two wires coming from the UBEC? The USB-C plug with 24 connections is impossib...

Security on Dataplicity?

Gentlemen and ladies, I've been looking at Dataplicity as a wormhole to run a personal webserver on a Raspberry Pi. (https://www.dataplicity.com/ ) Has anyone used it? Are there any security concerns with using it? A friend seems to think that it will open my entire LAN to outside skullduggery. Than...

Re: The Raspberry Pi 400 thread!

First impressions.... Pi in a keyboard, great. White keys with black lettering, excellent. Easy to read by older folks whose vision isn't what it once was. If they change it to black with grey lettering like everything else out there, readable only by teenage kids with x-ray vision, they should be s...

Audacious on Pi?

Just a quick question....
Has anyone run the Audacious music player on Pi?
Is it available in the repositories?
I have a new Pi 4 on the way. I love Audacious on my
Ubuntu desktop computer. Sure would like to have
it on the Pi.
Thanks everyone!

Jakesden, if you look at the date on those posts, you will see that the original poster has not been back on this forum in four years. He does not appear to be a member here anymore. You will probably never get an answer from him.
I'm surprised that someone else has not told you this before.

Bash question

A simple bash question.... In DOS, we had the "Path" line in Autoexec.bat that told the computer what directories to look in when we typed commands so that we didn't have to precede every command with the entire path. Is there a similar command in Raspian? And what file do we put it in to ...
