Re: The most influencial computer of all time.

If you want to see a PDP-11 in action, you can either use simh on your Pi (previously mentioned?), or you can run this very cool Javascript PDP-11 emulator that can boot several different PDP-11 OS, including (my favorite) RSX-11M V3.2, RT11, RSTS, Unix ...

I've run simh on a 4B so I could reminisce about Tops10 and Tops20. They ran really well, all things considered.

Model 4b sufficient for a server platform?

Is a Model 4b powerful enough to run a media server (Emby or equivalent) as well as simh for retro-computing, simultaneously,?

Currently I have a Dell laptop replacing the guts in a DEC VAXstation, but would like to replace it with a Pi for it's extensive additional hardware options.

Re: Trouble with VNC on Pi Zero (Not W) Dongle

Ok so I wiped the SD card and redid it with the latest OS. It works(took a LONG time!).So now I have many SIMH emulators and Herc emulators to put back on (compile, install and configure). Than many many more zeros to do!
"I may be some time!"

Many thanks to all that have helped.

Re: Trouble with VNC on Pi Zero (Not W) Dongle

Thank you very much for testing for me.
Looks like I will have to bite the bullet and upgrade all the zeros. They have simh and Hercules emulators o n them for demos etc. Normally I just ssh into them but sometimes it's useful to have a desktop (some students feel more comfortable lol).
