Re: Java API for Accessing the RPi Cam

Oh, but that is just start. Sorry - I had so many ideas around Java + imaging on Raspberry Pi and it seems that you slowly started implementing it. When I get a moment I can write up here all the ideas and you can see how far you can/want to pushed them to.

Re: Java API for Accessing the RPi Cam

Really nice. :)

I can already see what are the next steps:

1. Allow spaces in the file name ;)
2. Stream jpg (and png, and other formats raspistill supports) directly from that process to a buffer in JVM mem.
3. Add raspivid in similar manner...

Re: Java Device I/O code

Interesting reasoning. I am with you with many points (I started with Java 1.0 originally and stayed with the language through last 20 years - reason more I really like projects like pi4j and libgdx). Same as you I never dismissed Python (which I only learned through kids gaming club I am helping in...

Re: RPi libgdx game development framework

Hi Xerces, Just quickly to thank you again. I finally got chance to play with it and got it working on my RPi virtually without any issues. There are two tiny problems (I can, for now for around) and if you have ideas what to look for/how to fix do them let me know: - known issue (cannot find thread...

Re: Raspberry Pi with Java: Programming the Internet of Thin

I am failing to see the problem with Pi Zero, lightweight and Java connection. Nor, problem of Java not being 'lightweight'. Every problem has its own solution and not all are having Java as ideal solution. But, after all, there is quite a big number of problems where Java is really good solution (b...

Of, if you are like me, make calibration inside of your app and use uncalibrated input and do translation yourself. If you are making project for yourself and as one of stuff, you can even hardcode calibration values.

Don't forget to check second link, too. But, unlike Lobo it doesn't cater to the latest CSS and some newer HTML if I remember correctly.

Something like this: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=java+web+browser This seems promising: https://github.com/oswetto/Loboevolution Disclaimer - I didn't get chance to test it lately - but some 10-12 years ago Lobo was *it*. Thanks! I think I remember now. It is as easy as adding your user (pi?) to access rights for /dev/mem. And in effect adding access to whole memory which is quite close to running it as root. ;) Am I close to the target with that statement? PS I understand that 'easy' in first sentence might not be c...

@Stese I know it was a programmer's sleep :). Or better - you needed time for your subconscious to have time to work it out. As always Xerxes nailed it. For such usage there is pi4j's adapter for servo blaster interface. You can see example here: https://github.com/Pi4J/pi4j/blob/master/pi4j-example/src/main/java/RPIServoBlasterExample.java You need to run pi-blaster (as a daemon for instance) and then pi4j would utilise ...
