Serial connection to Arduino

Tue Oct 03, 2017 9:57 pm

im from Germany so in advance i will apologize for my bad english.

But now my Problem:
Im connecting a Raspberry 3 to an Arduino via serial/UART. When im sending data from Arduino to Raspberry i will recive the data, but when i try to send data from Raspberry to Arduino the Arduino recive nothing.

Im looking the data up on the Raspberry with minicom and on the Arduino with the Serial Monitor.

I was looking for my problem on google, but found nothing helpful.
And yes i disabled Bluetooth and changed the settings to use the full UART.

Thanks in advance for the help :)

So, you are connecting the raspberry gpio RXD TXD and GND to the arduino TXD, RXD and GND?

First thing that crosses my mind is that most arduino's use 5V levels and the Raspberry Pi gpio lines are 3V3.

You might run a test with the arduino TXD connected to it's own RXD. You know TXD is working, so this test might prove RXD on the arduino is working as well.

You could do the same on the raspberry and see if your raspberry TXD is working as expected. Ideal, you might connect a scope to the raspberry TXD line and check if there is activity if you try to send data.
