Raspberry pi 3 downloading 1-100 bytes/second

Tue Oct 17, 2017 4:54 am

I have just got a new raspberry pi 3 and am trying to update it, but can't because the download speed is almost non existent. It is the same in browser where I can't load any pages before it times out. However it seems that my connection is fine. I had no problems with my older pi2 and i'm using the same SD Card as from that pip.

I have the latest version of raspbian.
I am using the built in Wifi.

Does anyone have any suggestions of what might be the cause?

When the servers are 'loaded', speed goes down .. and (of course) after every new release you (and milions of others) are in for days of frustration trying to download c...

On the other hand, I've never got less than 10kb/s, so 100b/s does seem rather 'unusual' :-)

At a guess, your WiFi is 'clashing' with something else (your neighbours ?) == I suggest your run a Ethernet cable instead .. if that's inpossible, try moving the Pi closer to your Router (or Router closer to the Pi)

iwconfig should give you an indication of the signal strength.
My advice applies to RaspiOS only. Please mention if you use another OS.
