Broken HDMI?

Tue May 29, 2012 6:48 pm

Hi there,
my PI arrived today and I got some problems with it ;)
It seems like the HDMI-Output is broken, I managed to start Debian and have SSH to the pi, but I tested 2 different monitors with a HDMI->HDMI and a HDMI-DVI-cable, but none of them seems to give any output. The cables are tested and are working for other machines.

Here I attached dmesg-output:

Re: Broken HDMI?

Can you update firmware (Hexxeh's updater tool is easiest). If there is still a problem, run
/opt/vc/bin/tvservice -s
And report output. Also run
/opt/vc/bin/tvservice -d edid.dat
and post results here.

The Update is missing a file:
pi@raspberrypi:~$ sudo rpi-update
Raspberry Pi firmware updater by Hexxeh, enhanced by AndrewS
Performing self-update
Autodetecting memory split
Using ARM/GPU memory split of 192MB/64MB
We're running for the first time
Setting up firmware (this will take a few minutes)
Using SoftFP libraries
/opt/vc/sbin/vcfiled: error while loading shared libraries: libvchiq_arm.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
If no errors appeared, your firmware was successfully setup
A reboot is needed to activate the new firmware
Without I reboot I had this output:
/opt/vc/bin/tvservice -s
647818062: vchiq_lib: Very incompatible VCHIQ library - cannot retrieve driver version
[E] Failed to initialize VCHI (ret=-1)
and
/opt/vc/bin/tvservice -d edid.dat
692721178: vchiq_lib: Very incompatible VCHIQ library - cannot retrieve driver version
[E] Failed to initialize VCHI (ret=-1)
After reboot I get:
pi@raspberrypi:~$ /opt/vc/bin/tvservice -s
state 0x140001, 720x480 @ 60Hz, interlaced
and running /opt/vc/bin/tvservice -d edid.dat, edid.dat says:

Still not working for my BenQ G2400W here. (HDMI->DVI, now testing HDMI->HDMI and other monitors).

HDMI->HDMI is now working. Thank you, now I'll trying Arch instead of Debian. I think it should be working too, when installing the firmwareupdate.
