pi bash script "stress test"

Mon Oct 22, 2012 5:06 am

http://sourceforge.net/projects/pistresstest/

This is my script for testing the pi's overclocking stability.

It displays the cpu temperature while performing three simultaneous tasks:
md5sum < /dev/urandom &
cat /dev/urandom | gzip > /dev/null &
dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/null bs=16M &
Initially, it only used dd (hence the declared variable dd_pi_stress_level=1); change this value to increase the stress level.

The script is probably in need of "some" polishing.

Yeah, I know, not quite like a "Quake stress" killer, but it is my script. It was fun building it.

That's nice. I have try your script with the next OC values:

gpu_mem=64

gpu_freq=600
sdram_freq=475
arm_freq=1150
over_voltage=8
over_voltage_sdram=4

And temperature has grown up from 37 to 41ºC
I have repeat the test with: dd_pi_stress_level=10, and the temperature has arrive to 44ºC

Of course that I have installed heat sinks and a fan.
