Can ssh but keyboard and monitor frozen

Wed Feb 20, 2019 3:15 pm

I have a pizero running on stretch - "Linux cam 4.14.79+ #1159 Sun Nov 4 17:28:08 GMT 2018 armv6l GNU/Linux".
It is connected to a VGA monitor ( not hdmi). A usb wireless keyboard is attached to the usb port.

It all works fine. Was able to login to console and work. Started tmux and a few panes. I was running various programs including raspberry pi camera web interface. It was running fine for more than a day. I was running some terminal commands to watch process, tail files and also htop. I would constantly see console written to.
On the second day, I noticed that console monitor was frozen. htop was frozen, journalctl -f etc were frozen. I tried typing with the keyboard and no response on the console.
I thought the OS crashed, However, I could ssh and everything was working fine. I tried reconnecting the monitor and tried a wired usb keyboard but no use. Though, could ssh and all was well.
Could someone please explain what might be going on. Why the monitor and the keyboard were frozen.
