Is this fixed?
Re: 1080i AVC (h264) Tv recordings no longer work - Black Sc
I tried the latest pi firmware and xbmc compiled today, but still froze after 10 seconds.
Think gimli is taking a look

Re: 1080i AVC (h264) Tv recordings no longer work - Black Sc
I am also having problem with playing 1080i ts content. PI is able to deinterlace it, but playback stutters.
Re: 1080i AVC (h264) Tv recordings no longer work - Black Sc
I've connected dvb-s2 usb receiver on raspberry pi and by using tvheadend I can scan channels, but it's not playing.
I have dreambox dm800 which has 300 MHz MIPS processor and 64MB flash memory and 256 MB of RAM and 1080i video plays perfectly. Is there a way to copy settings from dreambox?
Dreambox is also linux based box.

Is there any progress here on playing 1080i AVC (h264) Tv recordings?
I still have to revert back to a RC4 to play these files!

Is there a resolution to this?
At the moment I have to revert to a RC4 version which reliably plays 1080i AVC (h264) Tv recordings, but this has no PVR plugin.

Yes, it's with one of the codec team. Seems to be a bug in vdec3 that wasn't in vdec2. Provoked by interlaced h264 video with hierarchical B frames.
I've been told the cause has been found, and a fix is expected in a couple of days (depending on urgency of other work).

Great, thanks for update .
Where can we check to see when this fix has arrived ? Will it show on git ?

Great news .... thanks for response
Re: 1080i AVC (h264) Tv recordings no longer work - Black Sc
Is this working now ?
I have been checking the twitter, but the comments are confusing to me. I am unsure how exactly this problem will be documented.

A potential fix has been posted here:sorrowuk wrote:Is this working now ?

with favourable responses. It's not got through codec team's official testing, which is why I haven't put it in an updated firmware yet, but feel free to download the attached start.elf and fixup.dat files.
Put them on FAT partition of sdcard. They should be compatible with recent firmwares.

Your black screen might be this problem:
http://forum.stmlabs.com/showthread.php?tid=3810
I believe that is fixed in latest raspbmc.
If you have a video file that locks up, can you provide a sample?

The problem I reported relate to either a rev 1 or rev 2 board with RC5.
1080i works fine with no lock up on RC4.
I will try edit a clip for upload in the morning

Here is short clip of 1080i material it is a standard DVB-S2 clip that plays in RC4 on RPI and XBMC 11-0 win32 version.

This file played fine for me with updated firmware on xbmc. Are you using xbmc or omxplayer?paulanthonyevans wrote:Here is short clip of 1080i material it is a standard DVB-S2 clip that plays in RC4 on RPI and XBMC 11-0 win32 version.

Re: 1080i AVC (h264) Tv recordings no longer work - Black Sc
I am using whatever is bundled with RC5 on Raspberry is that omx player?
The clip I sent was made using VideoRedo and may have been smoothed in process, but I dont think so. The original is over 7GB long and too big to upload. When played with standard RC5 it just freezes afte few secs. With updated firmware it plays fine 1st time but a 2nd play has black drop out and then freezes. The same content plays well in RC4 though with all the other RC4 issues...

Hello,
did you record this ts file with dvb-s2 usb receiver on RPI or it was recorded on some other device?
I have USB DVB-S2 receiver (Technotrend S2-3600) but LiveTv plays fuzzy video, only first 5th of screen is more-less OK, rest 4/5 of screen is fuzzy.

Try to play this one:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/7hc01hx104r7ldb/6sNLmTt7c5
first 5 seconds are OK, but after goalkeeper kicks the ball, video goes mad.
