Streaming Video From Raspberry Pi

Wed Jun 12, 2013 1:16 pm

I want to stream video from Raspberry Pi to any laptop/ desktop in the same network.

I installed XBMC Media center on the RPi. Added videos to the library. Installed media center on windows desktop; tried uPnP sharing to control the XBMC on RPi; but not able to. It does not list the videos added on the RPi.

Is there any other way/ application I can use to stream video from RPi to desktop ?

Thanks in advance.

To stream videos from Pi to Desktop you need media server software. I've used minidlna:

Thanks a lot.

But I have a question here: I installed the minidlna as per the instructions in the above topic. How can I stream the video from the Pi to my laptop ? What kind of a client I would need ? Or am I missing something here grossly ? :-(

You need a dlna client on the laptop to receive the stream.
