Raspberry 400 and Innomaker DAC

I've bought on Amazon a Pi400 GPIO Header expansion for my Raspberry 400:

and i've connect the Innomaker DAC to it:

but i don't obtain any sound out of it. Maybe i connected the hat in the wrong way ?

any suggestions?

ps.I have noticed that the Texas Instruments chip gets very hot when plugged in, very very hot.

From your pictures you have not connected the DAC properly. It looks skewed to the left and not connected to all pins (could just be the angle and my aging eyes).
My mind is like a browser. 27 tabs are open, 9 aren't responding,
lots of pop-ups, and where is that annoying music coming from?

yeah, looks like pin 1 of the DAC landed on pin 3 of the GPIO expansion board...

if after connecting the DAC the right way the TI chip remains unusually hot.... then its time to buy another one...

Stupid question, but did you plug in the expansion board into the RPi correct orientation ??

looking at Cloudcentric's image and your image.... you inserted the GPIO extension board the wrong way...

is your RPi still OK?
does it still boot?
if still OK better use a 40-pin ribbon cable (instead of the GPIO extension board)
and try again....

I was going by the Raspberry Pi Pin Assignments not what the Amazon Seller shows.

Therefore the RPi 400 Pin 1 is 3v3 and Pin 2 is 5V

Yes my Rpi400 is healty and booting, i've tried to connect directly to gpio connector but the hat has give me no signal of life... However i've ordered a ribbon cable. Thank you

I'm not "convinced" but i'm "hoping": i've tried to directly connect the hat to Rpi400 but i've got not signal of life. I 'll try tomorrow with a ribbon cable.... The Rpi400 booting with no problems, but i'm worried about the DAC

It isn't backwards. There are a mass of traces which flip it around. Look closely at the PCB shot on the Amazon page.

i've runned gpiotest on my Rpi400 and the result is this

If you are plugging in the hat only, did you plug it in correctly? Pin 1 on the hat is clearly marked, and should align with the Pin 1 marking on the Pi 400.

My original observation was incorrect, and the intermediate board was probably ok. Sorry.

But, if one of the chips is getting hot and you can't get the software working then something is wrong somewhere.
