Frosted PI

Hi all,

Just received my Pi today! 8-)
I had seen Widdershins case ( http://www.thepixelpump.com/widdershins ... i-case.php ) in this forum & used it as a guide.
I was lucky to find a rear projector TV around the corner that was being tossed out. It has a Fresnel type lens made of a poly carbonate. So I snapped & grabbed some. I went through about 3 attempt before it came out OK.
It is translucent, but if you get in the sweet spot it magnifies the awesomeness of the Pi; a true sweet spot. :roll:
Total cost: ~$3.50. I had to buy some brass nuts & bolts & may get some brass washers too. But that's for later.

Your URL is incomplete... but the project sounds spiffy.
I'm only wearing black until they find something darker.

Sorry for the mistake, I was overcome by Pi induced hysteria. Lucky I was even able to operate a key board!

So I based my Frosted Pi on this post in this forum http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... 40&t=13808.

Here are some pics. I have tweaked it a little, putting the nuts on the bottom of the PI & the more attractive screw heads on top.

As I type the Pi is doing the update & is hooked into a 17" CRT TV :lol:

Frosted for a hint of mystery. :D

I like the upright column placement too, I'm guessing you put these in places where there is reduced clash with jack, headers and other components, clever!

Hi Widdershins,

I'm replying on my PI to see how browsing goes. Yes I placed the posts in spots that did not obscure inputs, but I may have problems with the GPIO as the post looks to be pretty close.

I'm keen to start playing with the GPIO & I can always keep the base plat & make a new top plate. I was tempted to make an MDF base plate & an acrylic top, but decided on the all acrylic look.

The best part of the design is the air flow. I have the chip temp on the panel & see it is a happy 47 oC. I'm considering adding a small heat sink & will wait & see.

Thanks again for the idea. I especially loved your posts, what a brilliant material for them :)
