v2.1 camera with microscope objective as lens

When is a 4x microscope objective a telephoto lens? When you mount it in front of a 1/4" image sensor... (RPi v2.1 camera). I 3D-printed a holder to mount the objective facing towards the image sensor. It has usable resolution, at least near the center of the frame. Might work better with a different objective, this was a very cheap one: AmScope 4X Plan 4/0.10 160/0.17 http://www.ebay.com/itm/381613828736

The tops of the "T" marks are 18 cm apart, and the target is 9.6 meters away. This is a 1:1 crop from the RAW output.

Just solved a problem for me.
Telephoto lens for Pi's are not easy to get.
Microscope Objectives, no problem, they get thrown away here:)
Got four 10X on desk now, waiting for weekend, go though the junk boxes I will probably find more.
Got to get myself a 3D printer, love that mount.
Time to get the rust off my CNC mill and grab some black delrin.

If it's of any use, here's the simple mount design I did. If you look at the OpenSCAD file file you can type in a different value for the objective OD and have it fit some other objective, so long as it is cylindrical and has enough working distance to reach focus at the sensor.

The 4x I used is a super-telephoto, about 8 degree HFOV on this sensor. A 10x might be more useful, as long as it has a large enough field of view to cover the sensor.

Holding some white card up to the eyepiece.
I get an image from out the window about 15mm wide at ~10mm focal point.
So about 3x zoom?
Using the middle 1/3 of the image/lens probably not going to get much distortion.
With 22mm dia going to get heaps of light.
Night times shots?

The mount I made fits only that particular microscope objective.

Your link is a M12 thread lens. You should be able to use any such M12 lens if you use a M12 lens mount like http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1963856
