60fps video
At different places I see different specs for the camera. I would like to record 720p with 60fps video. Can somebody tell me if this is currently possible and how I can achieve this? If I record a 1080p video with default settings (or -fps 30), the playback (mplayer) tells me its 25.000 fps.

Not yet, but it will be at some point.dqpi wrote:At different places I see different specs for the camera. I would like to record 720p with 60fps video. Indeed. I've not got the 60 or 90fps modes to work yet (and am having trouble with a new preview mode as well). As soon as they are ready they will be released, but I'm afraid work keeps getting in the way of Raspi stuff at the moment. Pesky customers.

Re: 60fps video
Any news on getting more than 30 fps? Does anybody know about any alternative device giving more than 30 fps?
Is there an issue I can follow to be notified about progress on this matter? If not, where could I open an issue?
I've built an instant replay for tabletop soccer, playing the last 3 seconds of the game when a goal is scored in slow motion. Would look much nicer with more than 30 fps.

Hi!
First of all, I really really really apreciate this thing that you've make for us. It is really incredible.
But, I was a little disappointed when I finally discover that the camera wasn't (still) able to record on high velocity, although the characteristics showed in nearly every place (yes, I should have taken a look at the official specification sheet).
For my project it will be wonderfull if this feature is enabled, but I have no idea of
i. how difficult this could be.
ii. how could I help (not much gpu programming skills)
iii. how could I encourage the developpers to work on this.
I can imagine that right now there are other things more important, but if there's anything I could do, please tell me.

Re: 60fps video
Unfortunately there not much people outside Brcm can do to help. You need access to the GPU code, and quite a lot of knowledge of how the camera ISP hardware works. It's the second that is the problem, as we have the camera register settings, but my efforts so far result in no frames coming back.
I'm hoping to look at this stuff over the next week when my boss gets back (he's the real expert on this stuff), but he may tell me to do something else!

Send him this way and we'll keep him distracted for you!jamesh wrote:I'm hoping to look at this stuff over the next week when my boss gets back (he's the real expert on this stuff), but he may tell me to do something else!

Don't distract him too much - he might be the only person with the knowledge to fix it...

I really need to record at 60fps.
Thanks!

Hi, THX a lot for all of your work allready done. The cam module is a great tool and i'm looking forward to the 60fps feature which will allow me to use the Pi in my PhD work as a measurement device and educational tool for my seminars.

Re: 60fps video
By the way, if there is any progress in the frame rate, will it be developed for the actual model of the camera (v1.3) or it will be only on new versions of the Picam?
Re: 60fps video
It will work on any version. It's a software only change.

Re: 60fps video
Hi Jamesh, any progress? Many are tracking this thread with hopes of getting higher fps to enhance this already wonderful camera board's functionality. We appreciate your time on this and as always, let us know if we can help.
Re: 60fps video
We are getting 60ish out of it but the AGC is going mad making video unusable. We hoped to sport it last week but we're too busy. Hopefully this week.

Thanks for the update and your hard work @jamesh!
Re: 60fps video
It's not me doing the work, which is why there has been a bit of a delay - needed someone more experienced than me to take a look.
Almost ready btw.

Re: 60fps video
nice work!
testing 90 fps on quadrotor:

can't even imagine full HD at 90 FPS

Re: 60fps video
You'll have to keep imagining since the Raspi+camera will only do 90fps at VGA resolution!sviborg wrote:nice work!
