External SD card over SDIO interface

Wed Jul 03, 2019 4:10 pm

I tried to add microSD card reader over SDIO interface to my Pi 3 B+.
I connected everything according to this tutorial
https://ralimtek.com/raspberry%20pi/ele ... y_sd_card/
and added

Code: Select all

dtoverlay=sdio,poll_once=off
to my config.txt.
Pi works fine until I plug the SD card in.
When I do it, it's never detected and after about 5 seconds Pi hangs.
Holding ALT+PrintScreen and typing REISUB on keyboard does nothing, so I suspect kernel panic.
I disabled wifi with

Code: Select all

dtoverlay=pi3-disable-wifi
in config.txt to make sure it won't interfere.
Any ideas what might be wrong?

Using a tutorial from December 10, 2016? That's two and a half years, several updates and at least one OS version upgrade out of date.

I don't have a link to a more recent tutorial so best hit your favourite search engine.

I already did that and didn't find anything recent covering that. This is why I post it here, where people such as Pi engineers can tell me if it even has any chance to work.

My apologies but it would have been useful if you'd mentioned that ;)
