The download is for a regular .iso for a PC......
Here is the correct location.

Re: MX-Fluxbox RPi respin 21.02.20 is out
Nope. The link opens the folder that contains:
--the image
--the md5sum
--the README
--the B2-Final patch
--How to use the patch
--CHANGELOG
If I just linked to the image download, the user doesn't even know the other info exists. And--as happened--if it is necessary to change the file, the folder link on all the posts does not need to be changed.

Re: MX-Fluxbox RPi respin 21.02.20 is out
Hello !
First of all, very good job. I like MXFB Pi very much and I use it as my "Daily Driver". Is it possible to change an existing Beta installation to a "stable" one using the "Final Patch" ? Or is it advisable to reflash the Final ROM ?

Looks like a solid OS. The DE is a joy to use.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I can't get obsidian to run. I thinks it's because mxfb is 32 bit. Is there a 64 bit version planned?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: MX-Fluxbox RPi respin 21.02.20 is out
Try installing Fluxbox manually with a 64bit version of Debian Buster ARM.
There are minimal image files from Debian (without desktop). I don't know if it's enough to enter the MX repos in the "sources.list". But if you want to try it:
https://raspi.debian.net/
Bullseye also available

Re: MX-Fluxbox RPi respin 21.02.20 is out
Thanks. There is a patch for B2, but not for the Beta itself. You can use the patch in the "Old" folder to go from Beta to B2, then the new patch from B2 to Final--but at that point you might as well just download IMO.nate19712011 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 9:24 amHello !

Re: MX-Fluxbox RPi respin 21.02.20 is out
We're trying to understand and respond to this one-off on the MX Forum: https://forum.mxlinux.org/viewtopic.php?f=143&t=63378dgkPI44 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 23, 2021 8:45 pmLooks like a solid OS. The DE is a joy to use.
I do have one issue. When I add a new user, then logout and login with the new user, I get a completely different desktop environment. It looks like LXDE. If I then logout and log back in with the original PI user, I get LXDE, not Fluxbox. Strange.
Is this by design or a bug?
How do I get back to the Fluxbox DE?
Thanks.

Not ATM, no. If there is a compelling reason in the future it certainly could become a possibility.

Re: MX-Fluxbox RPi respin 21.02.20 is out
MX-Fluxbox update this morning shows a lot of "warnings." The warnings just mean that a package doesn't control those files anymore, but the directories aren't empty so they aren't being deleted. Subsequent updates won't have them.
We're updating the files in /etc/skel that control the creation of a new user's desktop to match new default.

Two more of the signature MX Tools have been ported over now: Date & Time, and Package installer.
For our new Pi users: the very fast Package Installer includes on separate tabs Popular Applications, Debian Stable, MX Test Repo, Debian Backports and Flatpaks.

Should have added how to install as I did on our social media accounts:
We normally use a meta-package that allows new tools to be added automatically but not all issues on the individual tools had been resolved yet at the time of release.
Code: Select all
sudo apt install mx-datetime mx-packageinstaller

One of the best news, Netflix, Prime Video & Co can now be used officially and legally in the Chromium browser. All you have to do:
Code: Select all
sudo apt update
sudo apt full-upgrade
sudo apt install libwidevinecdm0

Nice. I thought that would work with Vivaldi since it is based on chrome/chromium. But no joy.
It's already good for Firefox,

Re: MX-Fluxbox RPi respin 21.02.20 is out
So with Firefox-esr it does not work. But maybe with the Ubuntu version of Firefox, I'll give it a try. Chromium browser is not necessarily my first choice.
A new version of "rpi-imager" is also available (1.6) for x86_64 systems.

Strange.
Do you mean the mx repo ? Firefox appears in the mx repo only for x86 or amd64.

Yup, forgot that there's no armhf build in there. Tut mir leid.
Vivaldi had an upgrade today and I was hoping I could get the Widevine component to work, but still no go.

Thanks, i'll try Vivaldi.
No, Vivaldi does not work with drm either. Seems to work only with Chromium browser. I'll just use chromium then.
